I am looking for a pattern similar to the one at the end of the movie Stepmom with Susan Sarandon and Julia Roberts. For the life of me, I can't find one. Here's a link to the a video of the end of the film:
You can find the quilt at about 4:10.
Any help would be very much appreciated! Thanks so much :)
We tend to take an existing pattern and replace some of the blocks/pieces of fabric with the sort of pictures you are talking about. Is this the sort of answer you were looking for, or are you specifically looking for a pattern that looks sort like the one in the movie?
Thanks so much for responding. I was looking for a pattern. I am very new to quilting. This Sunday I will complete my fourth and final beginning quilting class. The whole reason that I wanted to start quilting was to make a memory quilt like the one in the movie. I like the overall design with the diamond in the center and the smaller blocks with the large block in the middle.. I see what your saying about making it my own, but I need the general design to start with. If you or anyone could recommend a pattern, I would really appreciate it. Thanks again!
Well then I have a few different recommendations for you.
If it's just a singular pattern you're looking for, Sleeping Arrangements - Tranquility seems like it would be fairly similar to the one you're talking about. It's got a nice big center piece with plenty of room to insert your pictures.
There is also a quilt called Floral Fire that could work well. I'm not sure if you'd be able to just find that singular pattern, but it is in the 10 Minute Blocks book
Lastly, have you ever heard of Brian Haggard? He has written two books about different quilting projects that incorporate the sort of photo-fabric that you are talking about. He tends to try and go for an antique look to the quilts, which I'm not entirely sure if you want.
(Sorry it took so long to respond. I have some links to our online store for all of these things and I wanted to check and see if posting them would be against the rules for advertising; no one has actually gotten back to me yet, haha. If you'd like I could send you a private message with the links so you can have a closer look)
