I'm new here...what is a fabric swap? I'm sorry if that's a silly questions, but what are the guidelines or rules. I'm guessing I would send some fabric to someone and they would return the favor? How does the swap work?
Jenn ,that really is the basic of a fabric swap .everyone send their fabric to a swap host and she retruns the fabric to all who are taking part If you go to the groups section and look up the fabric swap groups you will get a better idea , The groups are free to join. and you can learn so much form doing these. Barbara
Okay ladies we need anyone who is interested in getting some great floral fabric to come and share in our swap . swap closes on April 30th .. Barbara
Hi everyone, we still have opening in the fabric swap group for this particular swap , Closed April 30th so if intrested ,please go to groups and join the fabric swap group and take part in the spring swap, Now admit it y'all would love to have a new quilt with beautiful spring like flower after this lousy winter. LOL Barbara
Can anyone use some old cut up jeans for a quilt? I am using the back pockets for a project and really don't want to toss this other out.
I'd say yes you can use old jeans for anything , you might try doing a rag quilt with the fabric adding aonther fabirc of heavy quality to go with it. Barbara
a jeans quilt with flannel backing is great for taking on picnics, to the park or just keep one in the back of your car for emergencies. they are easy to make and so handy to have. I need to make one for my grandson, who just started driving. I just thought about that. Thanks, for reminding me.
"I'm just a poor soul who's intentions are good. Oh, Lord, Please don't let me be misunderstood."
Debbie, I am in Texas, do you want me to send what I have to you?
How many are we talking, with 5 grandchildren I could get lots of jeans and my biggest concern is postage would be expensive cuz jeans are heavy. Is there a quilter's guild there - they might like them.
Since summer is finally arriving yard sales are perfect way to pick up cheap jeans for projects. We have also went to the local thrift stores as well. Its an excuse to go shopping and see what you can repurpose.
I'm a material girl....Want to see my fabric collection?
You could just take the scraps tp the local thrift store. I know the ones here sell misc fabrics that are donated. Nursing homes sometimes take them as well. One of our local nursing homes makes things like bears, blankets and such for babies, or children. The ladies might be old but they can still sew and enjoying it.
You all have some great ideas. I will first see if the ladies at our local center can use them to use to sell things for the craft fair. I think if I took them to the resale shop they would just get tossed in the trash and I know someone can use these. So far I have about 6 pairs.
I saw a cute pattern to make post holders with the back pockets, so that is my new fun project this year.
Zoe,sounds like a good project , make sure to post pictures when you finish ,we love to see what others are doing. Barbara
