Lovely machines, folks.

Looks to me like you got a great machine for a great price. When are you going to get her? Will she have a name?

I only won her last night and she's being shipped from Canada, so I imagine that will hold things up a bit -- I guess in a couple of weeks.  Just hope Customs doesn't decide to charge a tariff.  Of course I will name her!  Am thinking about naming her "Barb" after my mother who was born May 14, 1928 since this baby was born May 14, 1948 (the year of my birth).  We'll see.  She might tell me a totally different name when she gets here.

How can you tell what day she was born? Your new baby ,Not your mother, ha ha. Is there some sort of code in the 2letter6numbers printed on the bottom of the machine.

I found this one on "Buy it Now" and grabbed it.  I'm still hoping Nana might respond just to let me know if I'm a bloody fool for getting it or brilliant.  What enticed me is it has been reconditioned.

Great looking machine Brigit. I think you did good.

Leslie :

Or Marie, you could call her Leslie,  Since she will be such sweetie, and i am sure she will be very quiet when you sew with her like me also  :)

Im not sure Leslie and quiet belong in one sentence together :-)

lots of love

Hi Brigit-Carol

I found a site that said my machine was made on Oct 14th 1953. I guess I'll go with that. Time to go and finish cleaning in my sewing room, then to sew a little. Night all.

The dates are the dates the serial numbers were issued. It is not an exact "birth" date. Your machine was made between the dates of that issue and the next one. The year you can be sure of but not the exact day.

My machine was made between March 15 and June 11 1937.

Marie:
I haven't received mine yet and beginning to worry since Kris won her bid after Nana won her bid for me.

I hope you get your machine soon Marie. Has the seller contacted you? Mine contacted me as soon as the auction closed then she sent me the tracking numbers after she shipped.

Kris, Nana closed the deal and payed with Pay Pal, I think.  She then gave my address to ship it to.  I sent her a check last Monday or Tuesday but she hasn't said weather she got it or not.  As a matter of fact I haven't seen her post for awhile, hope everything is ok with her.  I sent her a PM but she hasn't responded to it yet.  Patience is what I have to learn.

Sorry Kris, I never answered your questions.  The seller never called me and no I don't have a tracking #.

Frances, you are absolutely right about the quiet part but I hope my new baby is as spunky as she is, so I'm re-thinking the name.

Kris, that March date was probably when I was conceived.  :  )

Leslie, the last thing I'd want you to be is Quiet!  I like you the way you are, out of control!  LOL

Having met her now, I don't think Leslie is out of control.  I think she plots/controls what she says and what she does very carefully with her devious mind!  Don't let her fool you into thinking she caved in to that rendezvous with Sir Sews.A.Lot.  She plotted her every move to make him hot for her!
