Gee, I'm glad to hear that both Kris and Marie won their new sewing buddies.  I saw where Kris had won but not that Marie also had.  Congrats both of you.    Ginny

Kris, I'm so happy you won the bid, can't wait to see a pic of it.  Nana, snagged one for me as well, she's just the best!  Can't wait to get mine and see yours.  Like Nana said we need to have a featherweight sew in this spring.  IF IT EVERY COMES, THAT IS!

I have a Singer featherweight.  Its great...but I am a Singer-girl.  A dear friend gave it to me for Christmas a few years ago. I haven't played with all the attachments yet..

Nana - I've been watching these on ebay and may have you pick me one, if you would.  I'll let you know when.  I saw one just went for $255.  was that you - it was a black one with case and other stuff.

I just got a featherweight from ebay too. Mine is at the repair shop in Ann Arbor Mi. I wanted to make sure she was checked out, cleaned and lubed before I tried sewing with her. Was told she should be ready Friday. Just 2 more days. I have to see if I have a 1/4" foot that will fit her.

I've never even heard of a featherweight sewing machine.  What is so special about them?

Okay all you featherwieght owners, I have a question  for you ,this is not personnel  I just say inquriing  minds want to know. What is it about the featherweight that has all of you in a buying mood .I know they are small but heavy and they only do limited stitches.  so I really am having a hard time grasping the concept.  thanks for answering . Barbara,

a straight stitch is all you need to make a quilt.

Anyway, I didn't fall in love until I used Gini's machine in Leavenworth. It sewed like a dream. For me, it is smaller and lighter than the monsters I have now. I can move around especially during football season. My current set up is not in front of the TV.  No computer on board makes them easier to maintain and they're obviously durable. I'd sooner take one of these with me than my Pfaffs. (Sew-ins with Marie and Pat).

I also like owning a piece of history. Plus, they're so darned cute.
