hi melissa!  thanks for the note.   Georgetown must be a beautiful place - my grandmother lived in pollock pines for a few years way back in the '60's, and I loved going to visit her.    So happy to hear you've found community on this site.  I'll have to explore it.  I see my "joining date" was in 2010, but haven't roamed around here, so will.   I've been quilting  for about 12 years, although sometimes I'm more devoted to it and very productive, and other times I just kind of fiddle with it.

Here are my choices.  The "wild child" is what I hope to use as a border -- fell in love with it and just couldn't resist.  Then again, I can't resist much in fabric these days.  Both the blue and gold are a bit brighter than what shows here and the vine pattern is more subdued.  I have 2-3/4 of the blue vine, so hopefully it will be enough.

Bridgit Carol your fabrics are really cool!  Exciting border fabric!!

I am waiting for the fabric requirements before I pull from my stash.  I have lots of 2 yard pieces but fewer 3 yards.

Also, welcome to the new members who are joining their first MQ.  Exciting and super to be a part of this group.  Everyone is so helpful, a truly exciting experience!

Hi I am franrose.  I am a senior quilter who did ot start quilting until I was near to eighty.  I have made quilts for several great-granchildren

and some large throws.  I like the piecing better than the quilting part.  I love the way the pieces go together to made the design.  I have

been thinking about making a black and white quilt and this seems to be the answer.  Looking forward to getting started. Franrose

Okay I was inspired by looking at Bridgit Carol's fabrics and decided to hunt some more through my stash.  Woohoo!!!  I found a Jinny Beyer border fabric I bought years ago and am finally going to get to use it.  Here are my fabric choices:

The cranberry and tan fabric are darker than they appear and are a perfect match.  Now I am really excited  about getting started!!

Briget-Carol and Helen.  I like your fabric choices.  I have been thinking, what would I choose if doing this MQ.  What two colors go together, but you have the perfect solution.  Choose a border fabric, and then pick two colors from that fabric for the MQ.  Now I have to go look.  Just looking, I am not going to do this MQ, I am not going to do this MQ, I am not going to do this MQ.. .. .well, maybe.

Finally some answers...thanks to all of you who at least gave me a clue as to amount of contrasting fabric to purchase.

Very confusing, I tried to read all posts but too much to do, I now have hints of City Streets, Card tricks and Spinning Cards and Log Cabin style...should prove very interesting to say the least.

Only 12 more days to continue guessing.  I may just wait to the end and see what everyone comes out with...hah! Not a bad idea at that.

Thanks,
Roxana
