Typically a MQ is a quilt where you get one clue at a time. Some give you fabric requirements as clue one. Then a set of cutting directions as clue 2. Then the remaining clues are sub cutting and sewing clues. I have done MQ that take one day over a 10 hour period to do or over 6-8 weeks. You don't know what the final quilt looks like till the final clues. So like a good mystery book there are twists and turns. Some times you think it will go together one way them BAM its a totally different way. I have done then in varying sizes from a baby all the way to a full.
I'll be doing this as mq6&7 were so much fun, but I'll be lagging behind on it.
Quilting My Rainbow
These are the fabrics I chose for MQ 8
They're a dark, dark purple, and a Kona White.

These fabrics will be beautiful. I am using Kona black and white for mine.

Well, I've been reading these posts and going back and forth on whether I want to do this or not. I think I'm in, since I keep coming back to this MQ8. I didn't miss any information did I?

You haven't missed anything. Information will begin on March 15 in the Mystery Quilt Workshop.
Is that all we do to join then? Just wait for the first instructions on the 15th? Will it be in this blog? Or come some other way. Because alothough I am enjoying reading all the posts, it;s an awful big forum and soo easy to get lost...
Hi Shasta7, welcome to the group! On March 1 (I believe) go to the home page of QCA and look to the left of the page for either a word link or an icon link (it's been a big yellow question mark in the past) for Mystery Quilt 8. If you click on it it'll reveal what you'll need to know about the mystery (esp what types and how much fabric to buy) and how to participate. Once it's up, you'll need to also click on GROUPS at the top of the screen and locate the new group for MQ8 and join the group. On March 15 (I believe) we'll get our first set of cutting/sewing instructions. During the mystery process you'll be going both to that link on the home page and to the group.

On March 1 the Mystery Quilt 1 will open. You can find this by going to the groups section and scrolling thru all the groups. I will also try to remember to post a link here in this thread when it opens. You can then join the group. This will be where you ask questions.
On March 15 the first step will be posted. You will find this on the left hand side of your homepage under Mystery Quilt 8 Workshop.

So... do we learn how much fabric to buy on the 1st or not until the 15th? I'm so confused.
Debbie
On the 15th fabric requirements and cutting instructions will come out. You will have 2 weeks before the next step is posted. After that the steps will be released weekly.
Did we ever determine how much wine it's going to take to get the fabric requirements revealed at the Branson retreat? Or at the least, will you tell me if one fabric I'm auditioning would be appropriate?

Yes I can tell you if the fabric is appropriate. And remember I really don't drink much wine but bring on the tequila I might just tell you anything....LOL
Very nice -- it looks great in these softer colors, too. I'm looking forward to trying a Mystery Quilt.
I'm gonna do either a light or dark blue with lime or white. That is unless my thought changes again it really will depend on fabric requirement for me.
