gini:

karla, i love your purses.  now, why didn't we get a lesson at the retreat for these??  huh??  we could have used them to carry our chickens.

Gini, I'm beginning to become an expert on putting in the grommets.  I've got to make some more chickens...for Mother's Day my oldest grandson bought me a set of charm squares that he bought specifically for me to make more chickens...so I guess this week I'll be making chickens.  Good thing, too, as I bought the last of the fusible fleece from my LQS, so have to do a different project until they get some more in, or drive the 35 miles to Reno to the JoAnn's to get more.

I finally finished a quilt!!!  (It seems like all I do is tops these days, lol.)

So, here is the simple baby quilt I completed for a friend.  Baby shower is this Thursday but she isn't due until August.  They do not want to know the sex, so this may be a little feminine if it is a boy, but plan to have a more neutral baby quilt done by her delivery date so I can swap if necessary.

Very pretty, Donna!  Did you have to sew the scallops in the border or did the fabric come that way?

LOL...gee Nancy, of course I sewed in all the scallops!  If you believe that, I have a bridge to sell you too!  Seriously though, the fabric came that way and I cut four matching lengths to use as the borders.  Do you see my "intentional" Amish mistake?  Baby and Mom will probably never notice, so I decided not to ribit and re-do.

Thanks Weezee, Marie and Carol.  It actually was a pretty quick pattern.  I am just a slow quilter who gets distracted easily!

So many pretty bags and purses and quilts!  Great job everyone!

I am trying to work a little bit each day on a new quilt.  It is going to be 'bright' and 'different', but then that is what I like the best. Here is a pic of some of the blocks I've finished so far;

Some of the smaller blocks toward the bottom of the pic will probably have more added to them...sort of like vivid log cabins.

And I learned something yesterday!  When you are using interfacing that you want to fuse to another piece of fabric....you need to be sure it isn't the kind that fuses on both sides.  Or, you wind up with a pressing cloth that looks like this:

I guess I can blame it on the medications!  I herniated a disc in my upper back recently and am taking a handful of pills each day trying to avoid surgery.  Bed rest and pills are not what I wanted to be doing.  Thank goodness the sewing machine and table are at a good height so I can sew a little each day. I am so sad that I can't sweep, vacuum, or wash windows.

Ya'll take care, and I'll be lurking.   Max

Can't wait to see this quilt put together, Max.  As for the interfacing, been there, done that.  Glad to be in good company.  Sorry about your disc problem, prayers going up for it to heal quickly.  Take care of yourself.  God Bless you.  (((((HUGS)))))

So far I haven't done any sewing...it was lawn mowing today so at least I've got some exercise in.  Got out there and did it early because of the heat.  Now I'm going to shower and have lunch and then maybe get down to some sewing.

All I can say is WOW!  I'd love to be sitting next to you at a QCA retreat sometime so I could watch you work!
