Karla:

No quilting today, just frogging...rip-it, rip-it, rip-it.

I started making an ugly quilt this winter and I'm still frogging it. Something to do while watching TV.. :)

Robin Martin:
Patti, there is a shop on Camano Island, WA

since you are close, have you gone to the shop in Bothel?   It is so full of fabric, one has to push bolts of fabric aside to see what's behind them.   Hmmm, since I am heading to Seattle Friday, I will have to stop at the Bothel shop.

I haven't seen my daughter since Thanksgiving, and she lives in Seattle.  She will be working both Saturday and Sunday but I plan to spend as much time with her as I can.

Thanks.  I didn't see the stained glass until I posted it also.  Had husband hold it up for me, as I don't have a place to hang them when taking pictures. Wanted to get it posted since I had just finished it.  Now heading off to another quilt retreat in Stonewall TX this am with Debbie-do.  So excited to have time to just sew without any interruptions!!

You've probably already been to this website, but it was new to me.  There are dozens of free patterns on this site.

I'm impatiently waiting for a ruler foot to arrive, it's been backordered over a month now.  grrrr   Gotta find SOMETHING to do while I wait.  LOL

Karla -  I never float my tops - just pin the end on the top roller and roll it up.  I also baste my sides - Baste across the top and then down both sides as far as I can go.  Then when I advance the quilt, I go back and baste both sides as far as I can go. When at the bottom, I batse across the end of the quilt so that I can take it off the top roller.

I have floated a couple quilts years ago but was happier when I started doing it this way.  To each his own, I am sure.

I also have seen DVD's where the quilter does SID around all the blocks from top to bottom, side to side and that way your quilt is really stable and you can go back and do individual patterns in the blocks.  Works really nice for a Sampler quilt.

I actually just loaded the top of the Easy Street quilt (Bonnie Hunter fame) and cut the batting for it. The backing has been on the machine for three weeks and finally the batting and top have joined it. Now if I can figure out where to start the quilting using one of those overall pattern boards, I MAY be ready to quilt it..

The last time I used my long arm was in early February and that is when it locked up on me scaring the wits out of me.  It was no biggie to fix, I finished the quilt as there was a time frame with it but haven't touched the machine since.  That is no way to get rid of all of my UFO's so I will give it another try.
