Thanks for the kind comments everyone.
Is, this is a block for a quilt. The pattern is called "Vintage Valentine". I tried to post a link but I'm getting tons of errors tonight.
Kris, your block is so pretty! I am very jealous of quilters who can do such fabulous applique work. Maybe someday....
Glendasuestewart: Anyone know the name of this quilt pattern. I just love it and would like to make one.

Did anyone answer your question, Glenda? I think that is Cleopatra's Fan.

Happy Quilting everyone...

Kelley, I found an awesome place to get Auritil threads but didn't want to say anything till I had ordered and rec'd my first order... anyway... I did that - it is a store in Canada... and with the shipping which seemed excessive - $18 - but when you added that to the cost of the thread the thread ended up just over $3 a spool for the large spools - not the cones... since I don't do any long arm quilting I don't price the cones but you might check them out - I ordered and had my order in less then 4 days.

I have a web page for them too:

I ordered what they call a door crasher - one was multiple colors and the other reds which i truly needed to do a couple projects and thought would make good gifts for stocking stuffers, mailbox gifts and SS...
There normal price per spool is 4.25 a spool. I did not find any of the big cones though but for those wanting the 1300 mm size they do carry it. Price is the best I have found - although you do have to buy a few spools to make the shipping worth your while...

Thea... I did check them out and your right the door crashers are a good price...
I use my cones for piecing and they last forever it seems..6000 yards lasts me about 2 yrs worth of piecing..
I will definitely book mark your site and save it for when I need other colors..
Thanks
In honor of National Quilting Day I (Finally!) finished Spin Cycle. I finished this top last summer, then decided I really didn't like it all that much and laid it back on the shelf. Then earlier this month I got an email from the coordinator for the Alzheimer's Diease Cooperative Group that their cupboards were bare. They were out of lap quilts for their research participants.
I looked around and found Spin Cycle, and a couple of other tops that just needed borders to finish them up. So three quilts will be shipped out on Monday.
I tried doing an all-over spiral quilt pattern on Spin Cycle. First time I've tried it, and I will use it again. Next time I'll be able to do a better job with keeping my spacing even. I also tried gluing the binding down before stitching it. I can get binding sewn to the front, and turned to the back just fine. But then the binding would shift a little bit, no matter how many pins I would put in it, when machine stitching it from the front. Gluing has eliminated that problem! And the glue washed right out in the wash. I LOVE IT!
I'm still not in love with Spin Cycle, but it will now go to a new home where it will be loved and cuddled.
Hope everyone has a fun St. Patrick's Day. I've got a black and white log cabin quilt calling to me, so I'd better go answer it. Take care, stay safe, and try to behave!
