Happy Valentines's Day to all! Have been lurking and watching what everyone is doing. Such beautiful and interesting projects are being done! I love them all!
I've been working on a few things. The Feb Craftsy BOM:
And a top to be donated for QOV. I can't complete the quilt as it is too large for me to handle (60X85) but have contacted a group who will complete it for me. Sorry about the color being terrible but you can sort of get the idea.
And I made 21 blocks for a Block Drive for the same QOV group. They are 12 1/2 inches square:
Not much else going around here except feeding/watering the birds and DH. Need to make a Post Office run and stop by the bakery to get him a Valentine's cupcake (sugarfree). He was hoping for a whole cake! Silly man!
Ya'll keep quilting, I'll keep lurking! Try to stay healthy, gets lots of rest, and be good. If ya' can't be good, then for goodness sake be careful!
Happy Valentine's day to you also Max and all my wonderful friends out there in cyber land.
Max, your projects are all very very nice, I guess you have been a busy beaver.
Brigit Thank you so much for that link that is how I'm assembling my blocks. It was great to see the steps I guess I've been doing it right just forgetting where to start and stop. I'm keeping this as favorite. It helped my confidence seeing I was striving to do it the right way and not inventing a new way to sew it. Its that y seam now at least everyone will identify what I was doing.
Quilting My Rainbow
Love your projects. They are all beautiful. Have a great Valentines.
ls, I wouldn't try to work with Y-seams on this. I like to use straight lines wherever I can. I would sew rows as shown here where I've added the black lines. Does it make sense?

Max, great looking quilt and blocks
Max, your blocks and your quilt are beautiful as usual. Hope DH enjoyed his sugar free cupcake. He got more than my DH got from me... He got some cookies from his students and lovingly shared them with. As for me, I'm trying not to share my silly cold with him.
happy valentine day!!!
Angèle from NWO
Thank you for all your nice compliments on my quilty projects!
Had a successful day at the Post Office and bakery, DH was entirely happy with his cupcake...gone in two bites.
That is the way I would sew it too. I don't do Y seams on blocks that go "on point".
Brigit-Carol:I made some fun items yesterday afternoon -- quilter's stilettos using turkey lacers. I was quite pleased with the way they came out. Although I've about decided the only purpose of super glue is to glue fingers together -- I did it twice. Ouch! Of course, I've never used a stiletto, so will have to practice to see if I like them.
Cool stilettos Brigit. I use bamboo skewers in the same manner. They come in handy for my three inch square "Farmer's Wife" blocks.
MaxNTopeka:I've been working on a few things.
Very nice Max. I like them all.
I worked on hand appliqué this week and will probably do some paper piecing tomorrow.
Thank you, Kris! Enjoy your weekend, but don't forget to study.
I had today off but work tomorrow so this afternoon I worked on the Feb BOM, Love in the Mist. Had quite a time with it but I won!! got it done, bought the HST ruler and it is a great tool. really helped make nice neat even lines. and then got another row almost done on my Feb UFO, Fall quilt. I can see the end, 2 rows left after this and then the borders.
"I'm just a poor soul who's intentions are good. Oh, Lord, Please don't let me be misunderstood."
Is, if you sew rows on the diagonal as Brigit-Carol and others have suggested and add your triangles to the squares matching the "right angle ends", the little tip hanging off the opposite end should be the right size and you'll have straight seams top and bottom of each triangle-square-triangle strip after trimming the tips. (Some trim the tip before, but I've had better luck after.) Then by alternating your pressing directions, so the seams lock, you can end up with perfect points everywhere, no y seams, and no stress. Hope this helps.
