Has anyone ever made a Dutch windmill Quilt. I've been looking at a pattern out of Leisure Arts Quick Method Classic Blu Quilts. I've always wanted to make it but I'm a little intimidated by it because I've only pieced with straight pieces. What are your suggestions to sewing on the curve?

All of the Dutch Windmill patterns that I have ever seen only have straight seems. They are generally made do flying geese pieces. Or HSTs.

This one looks like a windmill using pieced HST but then they cut circle of pieced windmill, and reattach after pivoting the center so the colors again alternate . It has a difficulty level of 4 out of 5. It looks interesting though difficult for me.
If any of you have the Jim Shore Heartwood creek calender for the year the dutch windmill kind of looks like the February block.
Could you show us a picture? This is intriguing.

This one is on the back burner . Nephews quilt is what I'm working on now just wanted some tips for sewing on curve.
IS this looks impressive! Are the curved pieces cut separately first or are some pieces sewn together first and then cut? I think you will need to try and do a sample block. When you sew a curve, pin the centre of both pieces then the ends. Put the concave( piece under. Go slow at the beginning and you will see it will work out.
sewing curves is easy. you need to pin securely, matching half and quarter points, then treat it as a series of tiny straight lines. stitch, stitch, stitch, leave needle down, pivot to stay on curve, stitch, stitch, needle down and pivot slightly, stitch, stitch........... go slow with the first one and you will soon be able to go a bit faster.

Curves look intimidating. But once you try one you'll be surprised at how easy it can be, and wonder why you waited so long.

Sewing the curve is very easy. great tutorials at www.backporchdesign.com . I have her 7 " qtr circl template and also the smaller ones, I love them, makes cutting a breeze and watching tutorial will soon have you turning out curves with ease.
Have fun and give Elisa at try, she make great quilts and her templates also come with directions and she has an couple or more awesome books with many more ways to use her templates.
When I need a break from regular piecing I do a few of her curves in outrageous fabrics just for fun and a change of pace.
This quilt is on my bucket list. I have the fabric laying on a shelf in my sewing room, but I'm intimidated by the curves. Had considered hand piecing it, but with the ladies comments here about curves being easy I just might give them a try on the machine. I have a Dutch Windmill quilt pieced by my grandmother in red and white. That's what inspired me to make one.
