While sewing 3" strips together using the 45 degree seam, I discovered that instead of cutting off the excess at 1/4" and carefully saving the triangles for my border later in the pattern, I just stitched again 1/2" from my first stitches. I cut in the middle of these stitches and pressed. I had my strip sewn and I had my HST sewn. No sewing little triangles together. It was all done in one step. So much easier than the instructions.

I THINK I follow you...but aren't the resulting HSTs smaller than you need? I wish I could see it. But it sounds like a fantastic idea, and next time I'm doing that I will try it. Thank you!
