Thanks Elaine. I wish it looked like that now in real time. Photos are great for capturing a moment in time. If I took a picture right now you wouldn't even think it was the same room. It's got scraps, stray threads, ufo's, and clutter everywhere. Too many ideas and not enough time......

Ramona yours is impressive as well. I'm thinking never too much fabric cause one day there might be a shortage. I am thinking doomsday prepper for sewing should be a show to show us how to hide the fabric we don't want "him" to know about just yet *giggles*
I have to say I don't do anything quite as fancy as these ladies but I have tubs of fabric solids grouped by colors that includes small designs. The larger designs are by theme type thing then colors. The seasonal well each season has its own tub. I have managed to keep a full basement with safe fabrics since the basement flooded several years ago and 3 weeks of constant laundry trying to save OMG more fabric than I even knew I had...but I will be prepared if there is a shortage *giggles*

I am working hard these days to reduce my stash. So far for the last two quilts, I have only had to buy 1/3 of a yard. I am also trying to complete some of my UFOs because they take up too much of my fabric storing space.

I found some great bins at Walmart. I will take pictures when I get home. They are clear bins with no covers. They do have little green handle that fold from the inside to allow stacking. I use the taller bin to out my stash and the shallower ones to put my strips and other small pieces in. I then stack smaller on top of larger, sorted by color.
There is no lid to continuously take off and all my colors are stacked and easy to see and reach.

Looks like I'm not the only one with a ridiculous stash. I use comic book boards to wrap and store my fabric. Then put them on bookshelves. Nice neat bookshelves (well, they were when I started, not so much right now)....lol I'm trying not to buy fabric anymore and just use from my stash. I think I'll be 103 when I finally use the last of it. lol My gallery (if you click on my name, you'll go to my homepage and just click on gallery) shows 5 bookcases loaded with fabric and that's not all of it. I keep making more charity quilts so that's using it for a good cause. It's fun to see how others store that stash. Someday I'm going to get all my fabric in one room instead of 3...lol
