has anyone seen or know anything about this notion. i saw one in the new Keepsake quilting catalog and am thinking about buying one but would like to know if anyone has any information first... thank you in advance for any help if you know!
thea, is it the round greeen one? i get nicks before i get dull blades, the green sharpener doesn't work so well on nicks. gini
gini in north idaho
I haven't tried the sharpener but have heard that it doesn't work all that well. Let us know if you try it . I would love to know how it does,
No Gini it is a long one that you run your blade through - you don't have to take your blade out
it is fairly new on the market - the old one was a circular one...that is why i put up the new name.... I am hoping that someone will ahve tried this one.
it's made by the Grace company. Someone asked about it a while back, don't remember who now.
The sharpener is supposed to work with most rotary cutters but it's $40. I'm not sure I want to spend that amount especially since you'll have to replace it eventually.
thanks for the link kris. i haven't seen this sharpener. it ooks interesting. i'm headed to the quilt shop thursday, i'll ask there. gini
Kris, keepsake quilting has it for $31.99 for an introductory offer this catalog only. I was so hoping someone would have posted that had used it. But maybe becasue it is so new no one knows yet!
i asked jodie if maybe she could do a product demo like they did with the irons on QOL - but by the time they air it the introductory price will be gone... but then I can always wait for fabric depot to have an online sale only - I got my bobbin winder for $10 that way!...lol watch for these deals I do!
I looked at that too Althea. I am curious to know if it works.I have never tried the circular ones, because I always heard they were not very good. I do flip my blade over to the other side and use it after a while.
I only found out about flipping the blade over a couple of months ago and it really works. I was so mad when I think of the blades I have wasted but it is a really good tip.
angel that is a great tip. i take mine apart and clean it periodically, i never thought to turn it over. thanks gini
Angel, I do the flipping of the blade and years ago had one of those round ones - this one looks similar to what they use to sharpen knives so am thinking it might work well... I am going to try it out... i know that if Jodie does a comparison on QOL it will be after the discounted price so why not try it - heck I can always sell it at a garage sale if it doesn't work and if it does HALLELUIAH...lol
I will let you know - it should be here sometime this next week... I ordered from keepsake.
LOL Althea...garage sale....I think I have notions...no I know I have notions I have only used once in my sewing stuff. I have a set of bias bars I used one time, and hated them, so I went and bought another set of a different material. They still sit in the drawer with a few rulers I will most likely never use again. Which reminds me.....I need to go hunt down my F & P point trimmers, I misplaced sometime last week.
I have a set of bias bars that I used one time as well. Not even sure where they are. But I love the bias tape maker that you slide the tip of your material in one end and start pulling it thru as you iron....fabulous device. You can get them in different sizes to make 1/8inch up to 3/4 inch bias strips. It folds the strip perfectly ..... love it.
nana, i haven't seen the bias tape maker in 1/8th inch. darn it now i need to go shopping online.. i love those things, too. they make stems so much easier/quicker. thanks gini
