Ginny, I use a tracing will that has the pointed edges to perforate the paper.
I have used a couple of tricks on lots of different brands of machine to fool it into thinking it is sewing with thread. One way is to thread it all the way, but not through the needle. Another way is to place a business card where the thread tension take-up is at (you may have to play with that method a lot, to get it to work). Or, thread it normally on top, but use an empty bobbin. I know my machine loves to keep merrily sewing with no bobbin thread, (ticks me off every time!), so use that to your advantage for perforating!
Bayla Singer: It's also called a tracing wheel...We'd run that over colored-waxed paper to transfer lines to the fabric, and it did make perforations in the paper as it pressed the colored wax onto the fabric.

DONT DO this if you have a Baby Lock. The thread will get wrapped around on the inside and you have to take it in to the shop and have it cleaned out. Trust me, you cannot do this with a Baby Lock.
I do remember them. Might even have one running around somewhere. I never thought about threading the machine and not the needle. I know I hate that the bobbin that I cant see , the machine will run with out it but not on top that I can see.

Just a quick update. The first set of instructions have been sent to admin to post on March 15. You will have 2 weeks between posting of the fabric requirements and cutting instructions before the first actually sewing step will be posted on March 29.

I try to make all my patterns so that anyone with a little sewing experience can do them. They are broken down into easy steps. There is only one step on this one that will take a little time but it is all straight seams. I think you will be able to do this and have a quilt that when you look at it you will think I would never have tried this if I had seen the pattern first.

Thank you for the update. I have been on vacation in Florida, and I will be back by then. I haven't been able to sew since I've been gone. No place to sew on the go. I've miss my Grandson, cat and sewing machine, in that order.
