Ok all my MQers.  It is time to start thinking about our next MQ.  I am working hard to get that pattern ready for you and all the fabric requirements figured out.

I do have one request....especially for my beginner quilters.   Over the next few weeks practice making precise scant quarter inch seams for strip sets.  This quilt will have some pieces that will require a little more precision than is always necessary on every pattern.   I know that we all try to be precise in our stitching but I also know that I for one am not always so precise...LOL>   Especially with strip sets...the length sometimes causes my seams to get a little wavy in places.

Just wanted to give everyone an update.   The particulars will come out sometime about the middle of March.   I haven't decided how many steps this pattern will require yet but will have everything worked out and ready to go then.   Just keep watching....I will try to keep everyone updated as time gets closer.

Now go have fun practicing seams......

Annie

I am thinking that everyone will enjoy this MQ.  It will be a little more challanging than MQ7 but won't require any skills beyond basic 1/4 in seams.  I think you will be pleased.

Oh man Nana. I'm excited. I know I can say I'll play cheerleader but then the fabric requirements come out and it's down hill from there. I'll be watching.

Yeah, me too.  I say I am not going to do the MQ, but then the fabric requirements come out and I am hooked.  But if so, only if most of the fabric will come from my fabric stash.

Looking forward to it.  Will there be flying geese?  After Bonnie's Easy Street and the MQ on the Quilting Board, I'm not sure whether to say I'm burned out on flying geese or now an expert at making them!  BTW, I do have a certificate from the Quilting Board that states I am an expert!

My seams are usually really good, I can get the 1/4"  really well. Its the cutting that I mess up. In strips its usually where the fabric is folded it gets wider on me.

I used to have a similar problem until I started cutting from the fold instead of from the selvedge, making sure my ruler was spot on straight.  If I cut more than 3 - 4 strips, I have to square up the fabric again by cutting a sliver off the end.  No matter how careful I am, it still gets off after just a few cuts.

Nana, Eleanor Burns has cut her fabric at the fold many times, says the 1/4" seam and cutting the strip is more accurate that way.  Maybe we should all try that, two long strips and two half strips to see which is more accurate.

BTW Leslie, my MQ7 isn't done yet either and probably won't be by the time I join in on MQ8.  Isn't that the way it's supposed to be, thought it was a requirement.  :  )

I'm gonna  try cutting it that way for the next quilt. Thanks for the tip. I might join in on this one if I can finish one quilt before then. Have never done a MQ.

Brigit-Carol  - Oh I know what you mean about the Flying Geese in the Easy Street  Mystery Quilt.  I started late on it and have done the first bunch of 128 FG and need to do the second set.  I must say the Easy Angle rulers I have had for years have made this much easier than I thought it would.  Congrats on your Certificate - I won't deserve one for some time.

Nana - thanks for the heads up on MQ8 - not that MQ7 is done nor your July scrappy mystery.  At least I can't say I don't have anything to work on - just have a problem with deciding which one of many.

I really enjoyed MQ7 so I'm ready for MQ8.  this will be my second one and I'm looking forward to it!

Of course, haven't finished MQ7, either - undecided about another border and then need to have it quilted and sew binding.  But since I just finished this one and it had been sitting around for 3 years, at least, what's the rush!
