if you have three sewing machines- 1 for everyday, 1 for backup and 1 for extra backup.

if you're sitting in a waiting room and notice a thread from last nights project stuck to your shirt.

you have more storage totes than the container store.

If you use zip lock freezer bags for projects, not freezing

if you have more fabric selection in your closet than Wal Mart does.

If you have more spools of thread than walmart does (and you've contemplated on stealing their display case)

if your husband knows who Connecting threads, Keepsake Quilting and Fons & Porter are.

If your printed patterns from www.quilterscache.com everywhere you look.

If you have containers labeled... FQ, Skinny 8ths, Large scraps, small scraps, strings,  2 inch, 3 inch, 4 inch, 5 inch 6 inch.

if you have 6 pairs of scissors for 6 different things.

if your design wall has become the rooms focal point.

LOL  I could go on and on and on :/     Good thread!

If you have to find a place to hide the 25 yards of batting you bought so your DH doesn't know it's in the house.  (He still doesn't.)

If you get weird stares from others when you fondle/pet fabric.

If you cut fabric into little pieces just to sew it back together again!

If your husband has resigned himself to spending time alone on every vacation while his wife is quilting with the other retreaters.

If your Amazon.com homepage automatically comes up to quilting books.

If a new quilting magazine arrives at your house every other week (in spite of most of them only being published 6x a year).

If you keep a supply of plain brown bags in the car to smuggle your quilt store purchases into the house.

If stray bits of thread find their way into every room of the house.

If your normally hyperactive dog instantly lays down for a nap when she sees you enter your sewing room.

If you start paying cash at the LQS so your hubby can't track your quilt purchases on the credit card statement.

If you understand acronyms LQS, DSM, FMQ, SID, EQ7, WOF, and the like.

If your family know not to use your fabric scissors to cut open a parcel thats just arrived.

If everything you think of buying you equate to how much fabric that will pay for.

lots of love

you have more fabric than you could ever possibly use in your life time.

And if over half of that fabric is saved for a specific quilt, so it is off limits for other projects.

If you have designated in your will,  the beneficiary of your stash.

If you lay in bed contemplating quilt number 30, when you are still working on number 5.

If you will drop a bundle of money at the LQS without a blink of the eye but walk away from a pair of pants that you love but aren't willing to pay the price....

If your DH plans weekend trips around where the quilt shops are

When your DH knows that if you go into a quilt shop that he might as well find a chair and get comfortable

If your DH starts bringing you fabrics he thinks you will like

If your DH will stand in the cutting line so that you can continue shopping

If you want to go shopping or browse on-line for quilt fabric on any day, but only shop for clothing for oneself when need to or  for a special occasion.

If you are making a homemade pasta sauce, and you say out loud I need a 1/4 inch of garlic instead of teaspoon.

If you study son's  girlfriend and wonder if they might be a quilter someday so that she can inherit your machines and fabric stash, since you don't have a daughter.

I can so relate to everyones' comments on this post!  I laughed many times!!

Nana,

Perhaps you need to start a new thread how do you know if you have a true quilters husband/wife.

lots of love

chocake2:
You have 15 shades of red in your stash and not one of them will work in your current project.
This one really hits home for me! Im always so sure I have just the color needed only to find out it is not in my stash. ugh!    Susan
