Joni:
Those shades on the book cover look awesome.  Am I wrong in assuming they must need to be lined?

mine are lined with a thin insulate fabric that  lets the light shine through but still protects the fabric.

Patti, they're beautiful!  Looks like stained glass.  Did you line them?

What kind insulate lining do you use?  Brand? where to purchase.  The only insulate I know of is rather expensive (used to line heating pads, pot holders etc.

Joni, I made mine so many years ago from a pattern from Joanne's.  I also bought the decorator fabric and insulate lining there.  Hope this helps.

Thanks Marie...guess I will have to wait on insulated blinds...Roman Shades.  Gonna check out Anna's and see if I can get some inexpensive insulated curtains...@ $9 each.    I need at least 8 panels.

At JoAnn's I don't remember the brand.  But I do remember having to iron it to shrink it before cutting it.  It shrinks quite a bit.   The book and probably the web site tells what it is  If I remember correctly, you can buy it off the web site as well as other supplies.

Thanks all.  I have actually only completed one of 4.  Two others are ready except the hard ware.  DH says it looks funny with only one window with a shade.  So maybe I'll finish the other two this weekend.

I only started the project years ago.

Yes i also have same question if they must need to be lined?

I just looking some info regarding in hand made roman blinds and i just find out that terrell Sundermann was definitely an expert in designing when it comes to window blinds.
