hi all
I'm a southern transplant from Dry Tavern Pa. Now live near Charleston SC.
I recently retired after 22 years in the IT dept of an insurance company here.
I am totally hooked on quilting now. Am working on my 3rd whole quilt (have made several cheater baby quilts) I am quilting them on my embroidery machine, since I discovered free hand sewing was something I did poorly. I have much to learn and need all the help anyone can give....
Welcome, Slbayles! There are a wonderful bunch of very talented quilters here on the site, so ask those questions of yours, and I'm sure you'll be pleased with the response.

Welcome Slbayles! I also am from SC. The group of quilters on the site are so helpful. I am so very glad that I joined in. My son and his family live in Mt. Pleasant, so I'm on I26 often!
Hi and Welcome Slbayles,
You'll love it here. We love to share our love of quilting. Hope you've joined the local quilt guild. They have a great quilt show there. I was there visiting my DH's cousin (Hollywood), and stopped there before going to her house. It was 2 or 3 years ago, but it was great. I'm in East Tn. and it only takes 6 hours to get to Charleston from here. Ask all the questions you want and someone will always be ready with an answer or at least be able to tell you where to find the answer.

Hello and Welcome. Sounds like you are doing great.....3 already.... I have an embroidery machine but have never used it to quilt......can't wait to see your pics!
Welcome slbayles,
You will love it here. I was in Charleston about 3 years ago. I love it there. We took my father to see the Yorktown. When he was in the Navy, he was stationed on the Yorktown. My sister and I fell in love with Charleston. Maybe someday I can visit again. Can't wait to see pictures of your quilts.

Welcome, Slbayles, I lived in Charleston in the late 80s when my DH was stationed there with the Navy. My DS was born there in 89. It was a nice place to live. I made some wonderful friends there. We go back every now and then. Boone Hall is having an Oyster festival on the 27th of January, wish I could go. Hope to chat with you again. Show us some pics. when you get a chance .
