Has anyone ever used a satin fabric for a quilt.? I know it would be slippery on bed of machine. Just another idea something heirloom style .

I have not. It would also be slippery on the bed. It has been a long time since I sewed anything with satin, but I think it ravels a lot and may not stand up to wear and tear. But it would be pretty!
Life is like a quilt...bits & pieces, joy & sorrow, stitched with love
I've used satin pieced in with cotton, but not all satin. It does ravel very easily but it's so very pretty. One thing to keep in mind is, if you don't quilt it yourself, will you be able to find someone who will quilt satin?
i've seen it used in crazy quilts, but it would be hard to work with.

I have used satin in crazy quilt designs but not anything else. I know that at one time they used satins and velvets to make a Grandmothers Fan quilt.

I actually forgot that i made one once before it was a puff heart quilt which I embroidered well wished words on each block. I'm gonna search for a pic of that quilt it was long before digital camera's. When I find it I'll post pic.
