Leslie, Just getting on the scale after all the holidays, thanksgiving, xmas and husband,s birthday and our aniversery is quite inspiration too.  too many treats to crowd into 60 days.  I heard the scale groaning when it saw me coming.

maryann:
was shamed into it by seeing a 102 year of woman (from Iowa, I think)  on a news program who was getting her exercise at the local gym.  Just a trucking along on the treadmill.

LOL...  As many of you know, I co-lead an exercise group for seniors - mainly for falls prevention and balance.  Our oldest participant just had her 98th birthday...the youngest is 69... and guess who is the most fit of them all?  You guessed it, the 98 year old!  She is truly amazing!  We all want to grow up to be just like her!  Here is our Mary:

:

She fully participates in a 10 minute warm up, 10 minutes of balance exercises, 5 minutes of aerobics, 20 minutes of light-weight strength training , and then a 15 cool down (60 minutes total) twice weekly.  Isn't she just lovely!!!

I wish I looked as good as she does now much less if I should make it to 90s.  She looks so sweet.

Let the games begin.

went to the Women in Motion orientation tonight. I am so excited about this program.  we start walking Saturday morning on the indoor track At WSU. When I ran track for them in 81-82, it was a wood floor. Now it is a state of the art poly rubber track. It is awesome.  The women are so supportive of each other.  Our intern adviser is  a poll Dancer. No not in some sleazy night club. It has become quite an athletic platform.  There are 70 of us registered this year.

Thanks everyone...she really is a very sweet lady!  If you ask her what her secret is, she will just shrug and say "good genes, I guess"...but that lady is always moving and has been her whole life.  She lives about a 1/2 mile from the grocery store (up a fairly steep hill no less) and in the summer always walks to and from -  carrying her groceries back home uphill by herself.  She helps at the local food bank...and carries bags of groceries from the storage area in the basement to the main-floor where they are distributed. The other helpers can't keep up with her...LOL!

Oh, I forgot to mention...Mary takes absolutely zero prescription medications...none needed according to her physician!   That really blew our minds when we were assessing her for the senior classes.  Most people in the 80's are on at least 4 prescription drugs daily and by the 90's usually much more.

So, Mary's real secret?   Get  moving and Keep moving!  You may need to start out in small doses, but keep working at it and you will build up your endurance  (unless of course, your doctor says otherwise).  She really is an inspiration to so many here in our little valley...and I hope you will find her an inspiration too.

Donna, what an inspiration Mary is to me.  Think I can push that walk up from 6 min. to 10 now.  I'm sure going to try.

Really quick check in.  I weighed this morning and have lost...NOTHING!!!  However, this does not upset me.  I protein loaded last night (over calories by a descent chunk) because I have started lifting heavy and my body is crazy craving protein.  Yesterday I took off at the gym because I'm just too stinkin' busy with life and not sleeping well isn't helping.  I figured I had energy for FPU *or* the gym.  FPU won out.

I'm still exhausted, but I don't have much going on this evening, so I'll be hitting the gym, doing a 5k, grabbing my kid, running to the store, picking dinner up somewhere and then home and in bed by 8 p.m.  No more of this keeping myself awake until midnight.  A girl has to sleep, and I'd prefer it to not be when I'm dead.

Love and hugs to you all!

I'm not really excerising much...take Indy to the backyard, play indoors with him, and walk indoors. I started this at 167 lbs. and this morning I weighed in at 154!!!!! As far as eating, protein drinks, fruit, veggies, some pasta, crackers, cheese, cheerios and occasionally chicken. My doctor is happy with me and said keep it up. Woohoo!!!!
