Thea,

QCA is definitely more fun. I haven't tried their paid club though.

Thea and Kris,

I like the APQ site too. I have been getting the mag since it started. I'm not amember over there either, can't afford both and QCA is so much fun.

I am looking for storage ideas for lots of fabric stored in deeper shelves.  I'm not sure how to best utilize the type of shelves I have with the amount of fabric I have.  I was reading the APQ storage ideas  but they are just not meeting my needs.  If anyone has any ideas, let me know.  I think I need to find a way to section the larger shelves off but haven't found the right way to do this.  I have a lot of fabric that goes in and out of my storage area quite frequently to keep about 30 quilters in quilt kits (average 25 quilts a month.)  I need to be able to see what I have and get to it easily.

Jeanine

If your shelves are deep enough have you considered wrapping your fabric on bolts and then putting a little swatch on the end so you can see it.  Then you could stack them into the shelves.

Jeanine, are the shelves big enough that you could hang a clothes rod and hang the fabrics from skirt hangers?

I found these recycle bins at Menards.  They are 18 gallon size and I've labeled them with flannel scrap, cotton scrap, strings, and fleece scrap.  I like these because you can open the top and it will stay open while I seperate scrap into them.  The row above holds cut scrap in various sizes.

My wider shelves hold bolts of fabric.  This is my flannel collection.

The other wall has narrower shelves but I found the rubbermaid containers that are the right width and am trying to seperate the fabric by color or type.  I'm getting closer but you should see my stuff everywhere.  I have a long way to go to get it all back in my "fabric warehouse" in a useful and organized manner.
