Yep Donna. That is how our snow usually is. My youngest DD lives maybe 5 mins from us. Less than a mile. We were having mostly rain with a little snow. Maybe ended up with about 2" in snow. She had almost 6" and no power. Our winter weather is really strange,.

Donna, my DH buys firewood split, and resplits it himself, too. But he sues this power table saw to do it. He has a very bad back and can't use an az anymore. But, where there's a will, there's a way.
DH jumped on the Sno Wovel website right away...but wont work for us/him. We only have the 20 feet or so of paved walkway that it would help with and everything else is gravel (Sno Wovel only works on pavement from what he could see).
This is not snow. It's frost. OK, the stuff on the ground is snow, but on the trees, it's frost.

We've been having very heavy hoar-frosts too, but I haven't noticed any on the icicles ( maybe cause I don't get up early enough?)...lol.
Whatever it takes to warm you up is my motto....heehee

I think the hoar frost may be heavier at Patti's because she is closer to the Columbia River and the humidity at this time of year may be slightly higher...just a guess.

Our frost resulted from having freezing fog for several days. Seems we were right at fog level. I kept hoping the sun would come out, because then it is all sparkly, like the frost on your fence. Very pretty. Usually we are above the fog, but this time we were surrounded.
