I've discovered my mq7 x2 is perfect size for my large table. So as a tablecloth would you still add the batting or sew it without ? What do you suggest?
Quilting My Rainbow
guess i shoul've posted this under mq7.
I used some of the heat resistant batting in mine to protect my table...it is a little thick and doesn't drape over the sides, so I cut it down to just run edge to edge.
I use batting in my table covers. I like the look and feel of that better.
Guess I'll still use batting that way if i change my mind it would still work as quilt. Thanks for suggestion.
Is, I haven't used any of my quilts for a tablecloth, but I have used an antique quilt that I have as a tablecloth. It worked well. In fact, I put a heavyweight clear plastic over the quilt so nothing would actually get on the quilt itself. Ginny
great idea on clear plastic since all that goes on table is place settings otherwise i'd be afraid that it would melt to quilt.
For tableclothes I usually use flannel for batting. It gives it a bit of structure and body but not too thick to drape nicely over the edge of the table. The flannel also acts as a bit of padding for hot dishes to sit on.

Nope Is, It didn't affect the quilt at all to have somewhat hot things placed on the table. Now if it was coming right from the oven, I just put a hot pad or pot holder under it. It was usually something that wasn't going t get passed anyway as it was too hot. Good luck. Ginny
Thanks for replying everyone it means so much to me to get your input. The QCA site adds so much inspiration and motivation and encouragement to my life. wanted to show my mq7 stll in progress here.
IS, It looks great on your table, and the quilt is very pretty . good job. barbara
EAT!! SLEEP !! QUILT!!
is2116, your MQ7 makes a wonderful table cover. Great idea and beautiful choice of fabrics.
I made a horrible and major OOPS in the top which completely ruined it. I wasn't paying attention and sliced a CHUNK out of the top. I had to do a creative repair. Will post a picture when I get the borders on next week.
Looking at yours, I may use mine for a table cover also.

Oh I'm so sorry, Judy. All that work! I too made a math mistake with my pieced border and I've just now sliced, resewed and attached it. I hate this getting older stuff. My brain seems to be in a mist some days.
Is - your MQ 7 looks great on your table. Such pretty colors.
Looks great.
Sorry to hear of oops but mine sure had plenty just couldn't figure the borders right. On your oops could you do applique label or tree snowman flower ...

I did do an appliqued flower over the OOPS and then had to repeat it on the other end so it would be balanced. I'll post a photo when I get the borders done. I'm kind of glad I did the OOPS as I like the repair! :-)
