Went to buy fabric for the borders and backing for Nolan's quilt. Got the borders on and all the quilting marked. Went to sandwich the quilt last night and the backing was about a foot too short! Yeah, hadn't put the borders on and bought the backing measuring the quilt w/o the borders. What a pain! But I have wanted to try doing a modern back, so pieced together 5 strips and added it to the backing. That took 2 more hours this morning. Yikes! So will try to get the thing sandwiched later today or on Monday. It is a wonder I can tie my shoes!!!!
Ahh, the fun of being a quilter...Don't you hate it when that happens, but then you went outside your comfort zone and fixed it.
Life is like a quilt...bits & pieces, joy & sorrow, stitched with love
BTW, don't forget the pictures.

Dawn,
I bet the improvised backing will make it even more special!

I agree Max, they are special. I piece all my backs now. I use fabric from the front, I really like the way they look...
Way to go Dawn! Whooo Hooo!
I don't believe we have met LeftyLou - so, Hi and nice to meet you.
I posted a pic of the back of the quilt. It is big enough! Yay! Thanks for all your kind words!! I will sandwich either tomorrow or Monday.
Hehe! Very wise, lol!

Hi Spudgrandma! Did you see Dawn' s photo? I wish my piecing could look so good. I'm a beginner. I know, practice practice practice!

I did not see Dawn's photo, I will have to go and take a look. Like you said LL, practice, practice, and practice. You will get there, I have no doubt.
Messing up was serendipity Dawn. Your quilt back is lovely. I love pieced backs.
Thanks Kris! I have been wanting to do them, but didn't think I was ready. Guess the Lord thought I was . .. :-)
Love your back...
