I am working on my first hand applique project and I am using one piece of lame and it is slippery and does not fold over as well as cotton. Any suggestions on how to prepare it so it is stable.
.
try using a lighweight fusible that you can leave under the lame.

lynnb,
Maybe a little wash-a-way glue stick every now and then where the edge of the folded portion touches underneath. Not, of course, where you stitch on the folded edge. I believe there is a product that you can make little dots to help hold it down. There is a applique group here so I'm sure someone will be able to give you a good answer.
Welcome!!
Haven't a clue (I don't do hand applique), but I don't believe we've met so I wanted to say Hi and nice to meet you.

Lynn - there is a fusible made by C&T publishing that you can use that is fully water soluble and will be gone - it will give you the stiffness that you need to fold your edges over without a problem.
i forgot about the water solubles. that would be a great solution
