Just this morning found you all. Belfrybat told me about this forum. I'm fairly new to quilting. Been sewing since I was 5. My mother taught me to sew on a treadle machine before I could reach the peddle while sitting in a chair. I had to stand up and peddle with one foot. Learned with paper with no thread in the needle. We couldn't afford to waste fabric or thread. My mother made my clothes from feed sacks.
I worked for years in sewing factories, enjoyed it but didn't quilt at all. I would start to make a quilt top and run out of fabric or get distracted and put it away. Well now that I'm retired, I've bought a short arm quilter on a 12' Gammill table. It belonged to a friend of mine who passed away back in 2008. There has been a learning curve but I am loving it.

Ruby! Glad you found your way here. Besides the message boards, check out the groups (link to the right on the upper menu). There is a longarm quilters group, although I haven't joined since I don't have one. I know several folks on that board do not have a true longarm but more like yours. Hope you become a regular as this is a very friendly "homey" board.
Hi Ruby, so nice to meet you. I look forward to getting to know you.
