Your quilts are great looking , Karla, Judy , MNnancy, all the quilts I have seen posted look great. This was my first MQ. I'm not a scrappy quilt person, but I used fabric I had on hand,except for the black trim fabric.Even the backing was fabric I already had purchased. My 4 year old DGS loves the quilt and he has claimed it for himself. So it was a job well gone in his eyes.

It's really pretty Nancy. I think the "swirly" fabric works well with the other fabrics. Good job.

EAT!! SLEEP !! QUILT!!
I've finished MQ 7. I did have a bit of excitement sewing on the last border. I was pinning on one of the side borders standing at the ironing board. After it was pinned, I walked over to my Janome getting ready to sew and screamed in fright. There was a large bug with long ugly legs walking across my harp opening. It has finally gotten cold here in PA and my sewing room is in the basement. I guess it wanted to be warm. Anyway I got my starch can, waited for it to meander away from the feed dogs, and starched the sucker. It kept walking, slower for sure and dropped off the end of my sewing table. I grabbed a paper towel and gently wrapped it up. Took the nasty thing outside and stomped it flat. The stomping helped drop my adrenaline levels.
Anyway here's my MQ7. I decided to make it bigger to honor Nana for running this mystery even though her life was very complicated at the time. She took time to advance quilting experiences for all of us. I'm going to call it Christmas Surprise. It measures approximately 80 x 90.

You are right Nancy. But I loved the border design and it just kept growing bigger and bigger. LOL I've only made one tent and hope to quilt it next year in the UFO challenge. Thanks for your compliment about the border. I planned it one size and it magically was bigger than I needed. So instead of resewing it, I decided to slice off a quarter inch all around the square. That's why the three smaller squares are different sizes.
Thanks Barbara. It was so big and ugly, it just freaked me out. I've never had that happen ever before. I guess I better clean up a bit this weekend. LOL

Mimi, I like your MQ7; it reminds me of confetti sprinkled everywhere. Very festive!
I also liked your bug story. I had a giant spider hurking around my quilting room too; I grabbed a can of silver spray paint and "painted" him to the wall! It is still there as a warning to other crawlies to stay away! (A silver spider shaped blotch on my wall is not very attractive, though.)
