I was going to wait to put it together but if all that is left is the borders I started to play with layout.  I am pondering putting the 2in strips in to make them squares

Marylin,

It's a great idea to use the 2" pieces.  They give another rythm to the set up.

From the way that lays out, it almost looks like you could put a corner stone where the 2" strips meet

Nana, I have decided that I really do like this.  I am doing 6 x 7 blocks, and then will do 2 pillows with my other 8 blocks.   I really did use up a lot of stash, and of my favorite fabrics, which I bought in a large quantity, I still have several yards left!  I am not sure where this is going, but it may end up on the bed in my sewing room.

When my daughter leaves to visit her cousins today, the sewing room is mine!!!

This would have been nice, done in pastels, with large bright applique over it.

Marilyn, what a great idea, instead of cutting them down add the strips instead.  Brilliant!  I love your fabrics together, very pretty!  I need to finish up the other half of step 2 and then I'm going to do a layout or two. Hope to post my layout by the end of the day.

Thanks Marie, J_Line and Karyn.  I don't think there will be room for a cornerstone though.  Once the blocks are sewn they should match up, they look off now because I didn't overlap to take into account the seam allowances.  I may start on it later today and see how they look

Marilyn  and others

Just be aware that the 2 in strips are to be used in one of the borders.   It really does help with the overall appearance when the borders are added.

Azhinova

I really love the fabrics you have used.  The only suggestion I would offer is to move a few of your "green" blocks from the 3rd row up into the first 2 rows so that they aren't so clustered in one spot.

I am glad to see that most everyone is starting to like their tops.  I love scrappys so I had no problem with this pattern.  It isn't the "show stopper" style of quilt that we usually make in our Mysterys but we wanted something quick and easy for this MQ.   I don't think any of us had the time to invest in one of our usual Mystery Quilts.   Next one will be different and still lots of fun for the beginner as well as the advanced.
