Karyn, I actually decided to go with a tone on tone, solid-looking black, after all. White just wouldn't work...and I'm doubling the black, in hopes that it helps the overall pattern. Depending on how the block turns out, I may even substitute more black than that, we'll see. Thank you for your input!

MNnancy: Gina: And I just love them! Pretty fabrics, Gina. I can tell that you love them. Look at how nicely they match the quilt you are showing in your avatar pic! :-)

Awww...thank you MNancy! I do love those colors together...I hadn't realized just how much until you mentioned the colors are similar to those in the quilt I used for my Avatar picture!
MNnancy: Maggie: Finally got my fabrics picked and cut. Ooo, Maggie, these are lovely! What will you use for your background/border? w

Oh oh, I dunno. I am trying to follow Elizabeth's lead and be more scrappy. I think I'll decide once the blocks start taking shape. Knowing me, it'll probably be a bright. If I'm not careful some of the fabs could start looking muddy.
Nancy, maybe I could borrow some of your and Bayla's fabrics -- both are beautiful.
MNancy--Use them all!! They look awesome!

MNancy--Love what came out of your stash! You should use them all. They look fabulous together!

Wow! I love the 2nd from the right on the top.
very pretty
Use them all. I love them especially your red to the far left,
Everyone's colors are all so bright. I hope my MQ comes out OK. When I saw the FQ of the dark brown with the yellow and orange flowers (top left) I really wanted to use that fabric. So I got others to match that one. I plan on making a larger quilt, so I got more fabrics.
Could someone tell me what color would be good the for the 1 1/3 yards (2 1/2 in border & 4 in border) and the 1 1/4 yards ( for the 5 1/2 in border). My 10 fabrics are blues, greens and pinks. Please help, this is my first MQ.
Maggie
These are beautiful fabrics. You will have a soft romantic quilt. Love it.

I think your fabrics will be very pretty. I love how the yellows and oranges pop.

I love using tonal blacks, browns, and sometimes whites as my border fabric. I think by using these they tend to frame the quilt top. As for the final border you may want to wait until you have completed the top to decide what you want to use or if you even want to do the last border.
