I'm betwixt and between on which border to go with on this lap quilt.  Wide or narrow inner border?  Gold or floral outer one?  Or even perhaps olive green since the floral print has some green in it?  BTW, this camera has a yellow tint, so the floral fabric doesn't show true - it has an off white background with no yellow/ gold in it.  Thanks for your suggestions.

I like the green, don't care for the floral for the border, seems too much to me . . . but that is just what I think . ..    :-)  Looks very nice and pretty!!!  Great job!

BB, I like the narrow border with the gold.  Very pretty, like the pattern.

i like the dark one at the top, it brings out the colors better and frames it.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions.  The orange picks up the colour in the print.  I also played around with the idea with a double border then using the gold to bind.  Or maybe the wide green with gold binding?  Ack!  I really enjoy piecing quilts but am terrible at coming up with ideas to finish them.   Actually, I've never finished one because I have such a hard time deciding.  Glad I found this group!

BB I like the red Green and the gold for binding Idea, I think the floral is to much and I'd leave it out.  I would make the green alittle bit wider  and the the gold binding would be really nice.  there are some great books you can get from Amazon on borders ,  they have some really good and differnt ideas thath are very hlepful and easy to follow .

Good morning Belfrybat. I really love the quilt and personally, I like the wider inner border and the outer border looks great with the gold/yellow fabric. I would not have guessed orange would look so good, but it does. Great job.

Belfrybat, I like the green - I really don't like that Gold brought out to the border and think the green sets off all the colors - the Gold to me overwhelmed my eyes as it is a very bright gold - my eyes needed a resting place.  I don't like the print either - seems like that fabric is very busy for me.

Well, the deed is done.  I'm not too keen on the green right next to the red-orange.  If I were to do it again, I'd run a thin gold border between the red and green.  But it will be bound in the gold, so that should draw the eye away from the "Christmassy" look of red/green.  Although the red is quite orangy.  Thank you all for your input.  I have two other sewing projects to do then I will switch over to the walking foot and get this one and four others quilted.
