Hi everyone! I consider myself a new quilter since the last time I made a quilt was 47 years ago! Then the quilt was all done by hand with scissors so I have a lot to learn.
Where I live is the middle of a forest on a lake and sparsely populated. Fortunately I met some friends that have been quilting forever so they got me involved and will be teaching me new things. First thing was getting a new machine. After looking around I purchased a Janome MC6500. Next was taking over my entire basement!
I have 2000sq ft with 1/3 for my jewelry making and other crafts and the other 2/3 for quilting. With my addiction to buying fabric I'll need all that space. It's a minimum of 1 hour to drive to buy fabric so I do tend to buy on-line.
In the past couple weeks I've already attended 2 quilt shows. One in Madison, WI and the other in Ironwood, MI. I enjoyed both. Beautiful quilts and great ideas.
I look forward to learning all I can from all of you here. The best part of quilting for me is that it's FUN.
Jody, welcome tothe club, You are in the right place to learn and get any question answered you might have, We also are a very fun group to hang out with. And we love to chat. You're gonna love it here.
EAT!! SLEEP !! QUILT!!
Thanks so much, Barbara! Looking forward to hanging around here!
Welcome Jody. Sounds like a beautiful place to be and many peaceful days of quilting ahead. I have had many hobbies, but none so addicting as quilting. It's a great group here, you will enjoy your time spent on this site.

Welcome Jody :)
I live in lower west MI, in Muskegon, although we will be relocating soon. We're hoping to get back to the southwest but we'll see where the job takes us.
You will love your Janome. I have a 6600, which is almost the same machine. You're very lucky to have all of that craft space.
Was the show in Madison the AQS show? I attended it here in Grand Rapids last month. Fabulous!!
Thanks for the welcome, Patti! Fortunately I have nothing but time and am excited to be learning all I can.

Thanks for the welcome, Sheri. The Madison show was put on by Wisconsin Public Television and Nancy Zieman Productions (Quilt Expo). It was a lovely show!

Hi Jody,
Welcome to Quilter's Club of America! Which woods are you living in? You might be a cousin of mine or at least know one of them. My dad is from Ontonagon and my mom is from Covington so I've got family from Munising west. I haven't been up there for years and I miss it. I am in Battle Creek so I'm a troll. Ohhhhh I think I'm making pasties for dinner. Yippee!
Thanks for the welcome, Nana! I will drop in frequently. Oh, chatting, my fav! lol
Thanks for the welcome, Prairie Dog! I'm next to the Ottawa Nat'l Forest. Gogebic County. Oh, I'm totally a troll 10 times removed having moved from my home in Illinois! This was our retirement home so we made ourselves MI residents last Nov. Hubs still works in Illinois. It's a heck of a weekend commute! Been coming here for 30 years. lol
