Yes, Gini, they are wonderful machines.  I decided on the 22in with a 10 foot frame (I don't do huge quilts).  I added the Lightening Stitch.  I should have it in 2-3 weeks! :)

Hi, I'm new to this area also.  I live in Central Florida.  I am a self-taught machine quilter.  I lost my husband of 30 years this past December and have the house all to myself now.  My children and grandchildren all live in upstate NY.  Love to learn new methods and I'm sure this site will give me plenty of inspiration!  I don't have a long arm machine, but I do have a Designer I and I love it.

I also have a Designer 1, but honestly, I have no idea how to embroider with it!  When I bought it, the rep was a wonderful sales person but an awful teacher.  I've had it for several years now, but I never learned to embroider.  For the first time, NOW, I have a need to use the embroidery unit and I have no idea what to do!
