Well I got my binding on my quilt. So I just need to sew it to the back make a label and it will be done! Yeah!

So many lovely quilts being made.
I finished this bonus top yesterday. My machine and I are on speaking terms again. Now for the next week or two I am changing over to machine quilting. I also got a package in the mail yesterday and as a result the plan is formulating for a quilt that will be able to spell off the wall hanging in the top of the photo. This time I am just using the rod and binder clips to show the quilt. The big blocks are fabric were what was left from the backing of the larger top.
Thanks to everyone for all the lovely comments on my quilt top. Itwas really a fun one to make.

Hi there people, it's been awhile. Well, you all know the song, all time spent behind the computer is time not spent on quilting. I promised Zsofia a picture of a small block of the mystery I'm working on at the moment: well, here it is.For the hole in the middle I need to put a green or yellow circle on it, I haven't decided yet on the colour.

Just heard some quilting tips- maybe you've already heard of these:
hand quilting:
Keep a folded dryer sheet (fabric softener) next to your thread. Fold it into a pad of sorts. Run your needle threaded but un-knotted through the dryer sheet. It will condition the thread and help it keep from knotting up.
When making bias strips, handles even binding....
Fold strip in 1/2 first- iron.
Fold each side to center fold line and press- perfectly aligned strips.
For binding add spots of double sided paper backed iron on fusible to one edge of inside strip here and there. When pinning binding to quilt, after sewing down one side- just peel off paper and iron it to quilt and use many fewer or no pins.

So this is my sample experiment attempt at a diamond in square, center diamond or whatever for future Amish Mafia quilt. The colors would not pass inspection under the long nose of the Old Order Bishop's Wife, so this would have to be a Breaking Amish quilt block.
