Judy T-Bellingham:OK, made two Lemoyne Star blocks with Civil War fabrics. Piecing them together in blocks worked well. They aren't perfect but I'm happy with them.

Judy T-Bellingham: MaggieNae:MMM and Agnes are correct. If you look at this like HST's you can avoid the Y seams. Let us know how it's going. OK, made two Lemoyne Star blocks with Civil War fabrics. Really nice stars, Judy. Not sure I am ready for those yet! I just finished the mystery quilt top from the Quilting Board and really love this pattern. Not too happy with my choice of colours for the stars, but I was trying to get rid of that orangy peachy fabric that seems to keep breeding. I only purchased two yards and this is the third scrappy quilt I've used it on trying to use it up. <sigh> I still have over a half yard left! The top needs a good pressing which I will do later today and then hopefully sandwich it and four others over the weekend. I want to get back to FMQing but was out of 505 spray. I now have three cans so will really go to town getting the sandwiches and quilting done on my UFOs.

I finished the baby quilt I was working on and decided if i ever try fmq again I will use a better sewing machine than the one I use for piecing. what would you do ? I made it for neighbor and the fmq really came out pretty bad, I'll post pic tomorrow. I can see myself giving it to neighbor and apollogising for the poor stitching job. Is that awful of me to give a quilt when it really looks like beginning fmq? I'm having Tiara dreams tonight because i surely would've done a better job if I had that machine.

Question. I have made a quilt, 42" square. I have backing fabirc, that is plenty long enough for the exrta 4 inches at the top and bottom, but, I have to piece it to make the 42" side wide enough. I think, if I cut the fabric 4-1.2" wide, that will bring the width to the right width for the LAQ. But, do I run this extra fabric right up the middle? Or, can I do a block here and a block there? I have never done a pieced border before and this is scary. HELP!!!!
LaJuan, there are no rules, you can do it however you want to do. I prefer to do the middle because then when I square it up it doesnt get wanky on the sides. Some people piece the entire back. So like said "no rules".

Sunday Report: I'm quilting my fingers off on Sophie's Quilt. Not sure I will make the deadline but trying.
I did take a few minutes out to help cook a spare-turkey Thanksgiving repeat feast on Saturday. (we ran out of leftovers too soon on the official feast)
Went to the Fabrique Boutique to cash on the coupons, four fifties and two forties, but they had all the fabrique on sale almost. Got some muslin and some notions.
My intention was to cabbage onto some kona cotton solids to supply my new Amish Mafia inspired phase, but that's another story.
I've finished this top in the past few days. This will get a one fabric back. I was planning originally to piece it with leftover floral pieces and blocks but decided they would make a lovely throw so once again one quilt becomes two. Oh, how the projects and quilts just keep on going and going and going in my house. I went to the Thrift Shop and scored. I bought a bunch of old, 1980's Quilters Newsletter Magazines for 35 cents each and found a hand piecing project in the first one I opened. I might start cutting today while I watch curling on TV.

Sukoshi I do my quilts the quickest way I'm able to complete them. Ive added to the sides and my finished job looks distracting to me I'll go for the middle next time.
