Snowbird quilter, that is such a cute remote holder that you made. Your DGS is sure to love it. Ginny
What on earth am I going to do with me? I’ve been trying to make one stupid quilt block all afternoon – the star block. I had all of the quarter-square triangle units done, and was making the corners. I needed a total of 36 corner units. 18 done with the short piece on the left and the other 18 with the short piece on the right. SO I carefully counted out little sub-corner units into 2 piles of 18. On one pile I sewed the final piece with the short side on the right, and the other pile the short piece was on the left. Then I proceeded to press all those seams. When I got through pressing, I counted again. I had 14 pieces with the short piece on the left and 22 pieces with it on the right. Ugh. So out came the ripper – and I re-made the 4 wrongly done corners. As I worked on the block – laying out all of the sub-assemblies, I counted again. This time I discovered that the 4 wrongly done corners were still wrongly done! So out came the ripper again – and I re-re-made the 4 pesky corners.
I counted again, and everything counted correctly. Okay, lay out the block. There are 4 corner units, 4 quarter-square triangle units, and 1 center square (3 rows of 3). After I sewed the first 2 units of each row together, I noticed that the points of some of the quarter-square units pointed one way, and others pointed the other way. Rats! So, out came the ripper again! Then I laid out the 9 separate units in the correct orientation and proceeded to sew the block together. So careful with pressing the seams in the right directions – perfect.
Then I noticed that the color of the star was wrong! @#$%^&*()!! I had a blue star – NOT THE WHITE ONE THAT’S SUPPOSED TO BE THERE! I’m going to have to rip all 9 individual units apart and re-orient the quarter-square triangle units and try again – but not today! I think I'll just crawl into bed and watch tv with my purrfect kitty.

Marie - Actually' that was my new block - I had blown the size of the seam allowances on the very first block. I think it's all sort of funny
half of my pp butterfly is done. Just making one for the center block of a baby quilt I want to give a co-worker in a couple weeks. It's going to be a cheerful sunny quilt.

I have worked on a quilt today. I found yet another UFO...everything all cut just never made. Probably went to a retreat somewhere along the line and never got worked on. I happened to find it when I was looking for something else..LOL> I have gotten part of it sewn together. Now I am marking quilting lines on one of my scrappy quilts that I made back in the summer. I think it is taking longer to do the marking than it did to make the quilt...ROFLOL

This is why I'm afraid to clean up. I'll find all those things I started many moons ago.
Can't wait to see what you're working on.
Nana, glad to see you're back in the swing of things. I have a question ...if you have a quilt that's a rectangle where do you start the lines for cross hatching? My guess is for a square you go from corner to corner but not sure where to start on a rectangle.
Sharon, I'm glad you think it was funny, I'd've been pulling my hair out. LOL I loved your block when I saw it but thought it was the one you had sized wrong and had to take apart, sorry. I'm looking forward to seeing this quilt done, the fabrics are beautiful.

I still make my first registration mark from corner to corner. It will give a somewhat diamond shaped crosshatch but is very pretty.
Bonita I would start lines in middle of quilt rather its the diagonal or straight and work out from there. But wait for others to answer that have more experience.
Quilting My Rainbow
