Those kids did a great job on their blocks, Gini, and your border fabrics are perfect! The light blue inner border with the fish - is it dimensional or is it shading that makes it look that way?
On the banks of the Mississippi River in north central Minnesota (Brainerd lakes area)
it's bubbles and looks dimensional, and thanks. this is a fun project.

Gini, the kids made some awesome blocks and you are turning them into wonderful quilts. I'm sure they will do well at the fund raiser the kids should be proud

Judy,
Your fabric is beautiful! Can't wait to see what you create with it. Those wonderful colors should make a stunning quilt.

Gini,
Wonderful original artwork! Both quilts are amazing. Will Grandma be bidding on them?
Carol from Pittsburgh: If the repeats of the fabric are only 12", then Rosenthal recommends buying enough yards so that you have 12 repeats. But you'll still match the fabric in a stack of only 6 pieces. The difference with using smaller repeats is that there's a good chance some blocks will be the same.

There are ways to avoid the repeats from happening. It happens naturally for me because I generally don't follow instructions to the letter. I think it was about my third quilt with cutting that I realized i had my own method all along. As long as you have enough yardage with the six repeats for whatever size you want to finish at just purchase almost seven repeats, cut the yardage in half and cut one section from the bottom up and the other from the top down. This distorts the starting points with a little bit of waste.
gini:are these not the cutest darned quilts.
They sure are. So much artistic ability in both of the quilts. You're a proud grandmom for sure. WTG.
Gini, both are so cute. I love the faces on the fish.
Those are great quilts Gini, I bet lots of parents will be bidding to try to win those.
Judy, your fabric is going to make an awesome OBW, gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous!

I'm so excited to start this. I've never had a fabric that I so completely fell in love with and felt was perfect for a project. I'm going to take a one day class, Mid February, at the quilt shop on cutting it for the Wonder. Then I'll bring the cut pieces to Branson to assemble.
Cannot wait! My tummy is twitchy.
