Hey, I'm one of the newbies.  Just read your post..Where was your retreat in NE Ohio.  I'm from the Cleveland area (Seven Hills).

What's going on related to sewing I don't know about? Carole

Tearor, click on "groups" and there are 2 pages of groups.  Check them out.  There is a lot to be learned there.  To have access to a group, you will have to click to join that group.   There are many retreats around the country.  A few of us started them back in 2011, as we wanted a chance to get together.  They are informal gatherings put together by QCA members, and so are reasonably priced.

MaxNTopeka:
Finished up the third lap quilt to go to the Alzheimer's Research Group. This one is not destined for the special veteran's program, but will go to a participant in their on-going research group.  This quilt was made during a Block of the Week on another site. The BOW was lead by Weeks Ringle and Bill Kerr. Their quilt was about twice the size of my lap quilt, so it doesn't look exactly like theirs did, but it was still a lot of fun to make. I named it 'Baubles Bangles and Beads'

I love it Max. Great name for it.

I finished my first One Block Wonder quilt last night. I named it "Dragon Disarray" because the fabric was a dragon print. The problem I had was in keeping myself sewing. Every time I finished a block, I'd hang it on the design wall and just look at it. So fascinating! I'm going to keep an eye out for more of the "perfect" fabric-- I really want to make another one now.

Very pretty!  I could stare at these all day.  I just got this book and some neat tools to make these as a Christmas present and I can't wait to do one.  I keep going through the photos in the book and they are all so cool.  :)

Thanks for sharing your photos!

Carol, your quilt Dragon Disarray, is fantastic. I bet you can't fold this one up and put it away.

I would be fascinated to do this sort of quilt. But I think I'd need a hands on class to figure it out.

Carol, how much fabric did it take you to make this? What are the dimensions of your quilt?

I appreciate all you kind words about Bangles Baubles and Beads!  You are all too kind!  I wasn't real sure how much I was going to like working with the colors I chose, but I wanted to stretch just a little out of my comfort zone.   And sewing half-circles was w--a-a-y-y out of my comfort zone. Now I know what I dislike more than HSTs!  LOL!
