Joe:
On with the projects for the new year. I am committed to Sophie (my DGD) quilt for her birthday in late Feb, and to make the duplicate muslin table runner to save my wife from sin. (covetousness)

LOL Joe looking forward to seeing your projects.

Kelley:
working on a Craftsy class sample.. without the snap hoop, its hard to line up endless embroidery..

This looks great Kelley. I'm signed up for this class and have watched the videos. I prefer your fabrics. Not sure when I'll get around to making anything though.

Bev :

Kris, I remember you showing a picture of you working on the blocks when you all were in Leavenworth. Now that I have seen your completed project it makes me "think"

about adding redwork to a list of things I would like to try. I love the backing and your label just makes me smile it is so cute.

Thanks Bev.

Thanks also to everyone who made such wonderful comments on my efforts.

Agnes:
As far as the blue and white it would be similar idea to this hanging which I did this past winter just with square where the white triangles are.

Agnes,

I love this it's so pretty.

Star I think if you look on the back by the motor there might be a date.   Why not post a pic let us all see yours.

Here is a picture, still can't find the model number.

Wow, she is beautiful. I have two that are in working conditions but one that I really love. If you go to google and search Singer machines there are websites that will list Serial Numbers and you can check the model that way. The serial number will also tell you where it was made and the year it was made. Have fun.

xoxoxo,

I have an old Singer machine when we were getting a dresser and the lady asked if we wanted it. It is not featherweight, actually weighs a ton. No serial number but does have a name piece in back that says made in Great Britian.  I have not tried to see if it worked button but the  needle goes upnand down easily. Lady said itvwas her mother's and the lady was at least  80 years old. It is set in a lovely wood cabinet.

Thank you Mrs Moommist. I did exactly that and found out my machine is model 241, made on March 2, 1949,  and there wre 15,000 of them made. Now on to the search for a manual.

Appreciate your help.

Ugh.. I need to learn how to read again. Correction, my vintage Singer is a model 15, made Dec 19, 1949, and there were 50,000 of them made. Still looking for the manual.

I gave you the model no. and link to the manual -- just go up to my post above and click on the link.  Sheesh!  Sometimes I think I'm invisible around here!

I haven't worked on a quilt for two days, however I did manage to spend my Christmas money (plus some!) on two fabric orders.  Marshalls has 108" wide tie dyed for $7.99 that I thought would look great for backing on the batik quilts I'll be making, plus the Quilt in a Day webisite had a blowout sale.  I think I spent around $200.00 between the two.  I'd better get cracking on making a bunch of lap quilts to sell or I'll go broke.

Thanks Elizabeth, I will get it out again and check that out.  I was just so frustrated....tired and frustrated when it would not work for me.

Yes Patti it looks like the one I have.  Mine is so heavy, that I left it where I sew every week. I'm a visual kind of person.  If I have pictures, I will figure it out. The motor is running so smoothly that I would hate to just look at it instead of working with it.

Agnes, I love your hanging, with stars and snowmen. I love snowmen, love'em....

today, I NEED to finish one quilt top. No pattern just ideas floating in my head.  This quilt is made with my friend' DH's shirts and ties.  He passed away two years ago . I've made one quilt already for her. This one is for  her DGS and I would like it done by the weekend,  We'll see how J will help me from up in heaven.

Hi All FW fans.  I got the book my friend reccommened from www.featherweight221.com and all I can say is "OH WOW".  It is fantastic, well worth the $35.00.  Showed me several places toi oil that the service manual did not.  Show how to fix the finish all the way to a total repaint.  I am hooked!!!!!
