Debbie "Mistral" is just amazing, you did a fabulous job together.
Kathy, your quilt is beautiful, Did you hand quilt this one?

Oh, Rachel, that is such a wonderful quilt. It will speak to your Mom's heart. Espically now, in this terrible time for those who are so thankful that their children and grandchildren were NOT in Conn at that school.
Debbie and PennyWyo. It has all been said. Your friend will love both of you forever and this quilt! This is a piece of art made with total love and it shines through.
Debbie and Penny, wow stunning work
Debbie - your horse's head is absolutely stunning! You did an awesome job!
Rachel - I love the hands - that is fantastically beautiful and what a great idea. I can tell you as a Grandmother how thrilled I would be to receive somthing like this - just absolutely precious.
I have been working on my MR quilt every day - for probably 8 hours a day if not a little more... I finally today got all the little pieces for the 6 blocks fussy cut and now am ready to start fusing them to the background pieces. It is coming together and may still be done for Christmas this year...
I just spent the past 2 days cutting out a Christmas star quilt from one of the lastest quilt magazines. Went today to buy fabric for the 2 borders. Tomorrow I start sewing. I've been wanting to make a Christmas quilt for 3 years now so I qult all other sewing and I'm doing a Christmas quilt. If I missed getting someone a gift for Christmas, they get an IOU. It's my turn. It's an easy enough pattern I should have done in time for Christmas too.
After the holidays it's back to charity quilts. I have 3 ready for quilting. Only need 9 more for the AZ resort. I'll be using both machines all the time.
Hugs
Debbie-do, DH and I were speechless when we saw this wall hanging. He loves horses with a passion, while I admire them from afar. The details are amazing. This is truly talent!

Rachel this is such a beautiful gift for your Mom. She will treasure it for sure. Is it your own creation or a pattern you changed to suit your needs? Whichever, it is a great quilt!
I saw the MR Christmas quilt kit. Wow this will be beautiful! I am keeping my wall hanging kit for after Christmas since it is more of a summer scene. I just can't believe you have done so much already! You are so quick in your quilt making process that I'm in awe. Me? Still quilting for my friend, baking, cleaning. I still have to quilt a baby quilt before I can clean the room so DS has a place to sleep...hmmm son or sew...what a dilemma, lol
Thank you so much for the lovely compliments on Mistral. I'm glad you like her! Nana, you can do it! Having bought the kit made it much easier. I would never have been able to choose the fabrics. If you can trace and cut and follow directions (and have some uninterrupted time to get it done) you are well on your way. One tip, use Steam-a-seam 2 Lite and buy a new package so the side that supposed to be a little tacky actually IS a little tacky. Having your pieces move around when you're trying to get everything just so is a real pain! I can't wait to give it to my friend although I must admit, I am enjoying having her to look at for a while before she leaves for her new home!
Penny, if I made two more... one for me and one for you... would you quilt them both?? :o)

Rachel, that quilt for your mom is a real treasure. I'll bet you had fun with it. She's gonna cry. :o)
Rachel, your quilt is going to be such a treasured gift for your Mom. What a great idea to trace their hands, it is beautiful!
Life is like a quilt...bits & pieces, joy & sorrow, stitched with love
WTG Linda, sometimes we need to do something for ourselves!
