Belfrybat, it's probably not the right way to say it, but I don't know the right way.
So a normal border for me: I trim the batting to the top - trim the backing to double the width of border I want extra - fold backing to edge of batting/top, fold over the top, stitch down - turn the corners down to overlap as I go.
So on this one the non-quilting Proud Gramma to be supplied the material. The backing is just barely and I mean it big enough to match the top. So I put a border of Joseph colors on the top, turned it back and stiched to the back. et voila a backwards border.
Some real quilter on here can probably explain it in three words.
But actually, it probably worked out for the best, as things are supposed to, as folding the backing up on to the top would have made a horrendous mismatch. Wat til you see. When done I will pic the top and back, and o my you will all see then.
Brigit, I love your mug rugs and your new obsession is looking preety good!

Hello everyone! Today I finished the last of the table runners for my sisters. I made 2 of the Christmas one & did a little FMQ.
The other has 3 longhorns on it. It is mascot for the Univ of Texas & my brother-in-law is an alumni & a BIG supporter. They have alot of UT things in & around their house. If they don't want to use this as a table runner they can use it as a wall hanging. I did stitch in the ditch & also followed the outline of the longhorn in each panel. He'll be surprised!
I also finished wrapping presents tonight so I can mail off a package to my daughter tomorrow. This will be my granddaughter's 1st Christmas so want to make sure everything gets there on time. She'll be 1 yr old on 1/3. Of course, Grandma is sending her lots of presents. Will finish up my shopping tomorrow so I can spend time baking some Christmas goodies next week.
Great table runners Patricia. You have been a busy beaver..
Life is like a quilt...bits & pieces, joy & sorrow, stitched with love
Love your table runners Patricia, very nice.
A few small finishes to share.
I have 10 more of both the Lilac and Coffee Cup mug rugs ready to quilt. The last collection of 3 mug rugs and 2 needle cases were cut from a TV stand runner I no longer could use.
Oh Agnes - thank you so much for the eye candy this morning - so so so sweet - awesome job and isn't it a wonder what we can do from things we no longer use! Great work!
