One more project I'm working on here and there. It will take me a long time but I'm in no hurry. This is just the first block I completed from the pattern packet, Vintage Tin. I am changing the block designs to reflect local scenes. This one isn't changed much, I just added the name of the local river. It ticks off the cats when I'm embroidering on a block, as they can't get up on my lap.
I'm debating using crayons to add a touch of very slight color here and there. I probably won't as I'm afraid I would ruin it. All the blocks will have the same color embroidery floss.

Glad to be piecing again! I didn't used to enjoy making flying geese blocks until I started using the "no waste method for making flying geese units". Last couple of days I am just chain piecing them, and the geese seem to just be flying all over the desk. I am going to use them to make the Pine Tree Runner in the photograph. It is in a soft cover pattern book called Glad Yule by Wanda Eichler. The runner will be 15" x 35". It is really fun to get back to piecing after doing other projects for Christmas gifts.
Very sweet Judy, I have to start my next embroidery project. I finished Snowmen A-Z a little while ago - have the new one almost ready to go - but sadly it is in the package just waiting for me to be motivated.
No quilting for 2 days now - yesterday pain levels were too high - today I did some shopping and cleaning and baking - tomorrow have to go to base to pick up prescription and pick up the last things I need for dinner on Thursday at the commissary... then it will be baking on Wed...
I did buy a new pattern for a Turkey placemat - am thinking I am a month behind - got my Sew Spooky quilt for Halloween done a month after the time frame and now am buying Thanksgiving placemat patterns... They will be ready for next year - think I'll make some for the kids - they are cute and the tail feathers end up being the napkin...

Jason did a fantastic job. You willl have to tell him that he is now an official member of the quilters club and simply must attend more retreats.

That light brown is the embroidery floss that I used and will be used for every embroidered block. I'm not sure how long it took me to embroider that block, maybe a few weeks of working on it in the evenings. The geese blocks will be various colors of earth tones, black prints and some small prints. I'm not going to do all those license plates or motorcycles and will substitute local scenes. One of the big blocks in the center will be from a photo of my grandparents in front of their homestead in 1904. I may start that one next.

I may do that Nana. It's possible, during this project, that I may ruin a block. If that happens I could use it to practice on. I did use some crayon on a "throw away" block sometime back but couldn't seem to get it to look right.

Have been missing you! Hope you are studying hard and learning lots. I am so impressed with Jason's quilt! Is this his first quilt? I saw on your blog he had designed it himself. He did a wonderful job on it and his DS will treasure it.
