Debbie-do:

Now that I'm doing all this hand sewing, I'm developing some pretty ugly dry and tender calluses .  I typically don't use hand lotion because I don't like the way it feels but I'm wondering if there's a product someone can recommend for quilter's calluses?!  My first thought was bag balm...

Debbie,

For my two pence worth i use uddererly smooth.

lots of love

FYI

I use Gloves in a Bottle, very awesome product.  Smooths out roughness and dryness immediately.  Use only micro dot.

Beautiful work Jacy - I hate matching those points too but you did an awesome job.  I find if I mash them really good and tweeze them between my fingers that somehow it works - I think the most difficult part is figuring the best way for those seams to go as there are so many coming together and that distorts the points... but you did awesome.  Your work is very nice and you should pat yourself on the back to the point of almost breaking that arm.  Love it.

I finished up my door hanger for Halloween this morning. Step-son and grandson arrived from North Dartmouth around 10 last night and DH was happy to see them. They are all out of the house including their little dog, Ike, who is sweet, but very jealous; so we have to keep an eye on all three when he is here, that may be a bit stressful for me, but I'm ok with it if DH doesn't start his yelling. Anyway, here is my door hanger.

It is a kit and the directions are in "The Quilter Magazine" Oct/Nov 2012... set me back a pretty penny when all was said and done, but it is really cute on my front door. Grandson will be surprised I'm sure when they get back home. thanks for looking

xoxoxo,

I finally got to my sewing room to put the last border on Nolan's quilt!  YAY!  But must not be still feeling that well, as I got kinda sweaty and I wasn't doing much, just pinning and sewing.  Plus, room is in the basement and it is a balmy 36 here.  Then came upstairs to do the dishes and that made me sweaty too, so I guess I am not 100% w/this cold, but getting there.  My voice is quite interesting . . .    :-)

Jone,Frances,Gine,Nana,Barb, Maggie... thanks for your input!  I checked out our local pharmacy... they *used to* carry Gloves in a Bottle and agreed it's good stuff.  Of course our new and improved grocery store doesn't have it or any of the other products suggested BUT when I looked at the active ingredient in Gloves in a Bottle I discovered it's the same as what's in my Aveeno moisterizer that I bought for other body parts so I'm going to give it a try for a while to see if it makes a differerence.  I just need to get in the habbit.

this is what we appliquers over in the applique group have been up to.   we are over half way through this project and everyone's blocks are turning out absolutely stunning.   we appliquers don't turn out as many quilts as you piecers, but boy when we finally get a quilt done, it's a real looker.

this is what i have done so far,  the row of blocks on the right and the one on the left, need to be sewn down yet.   ain't they purty?   you all should have joined us.

They sure are!  I love the way your flowers look like they are springing from the dark earth.  I so admire you appliquers.
