after chasing kids hither and yon all afternoon, when we finally got to soccer practice, i planted my behind in a camp chair, got out my applique and pretended to watch practice. it was quite nice. we are having a lovely late summer, and i got half of my october block done, i may actually get my wildflowers done on time next month. my sweetie finally called and asked "WHEN are you coming home". he had a nice treat for me. we took the boat across the river and had a nice late dinner and watched the sunset from one of the best seats in the area. with all the fires in eastern washington, our sunsets have been spectacular. so far most of the smoke is hovering on the western horizon, but the mountains are getting harder to see.

Well, I really did work on a quilt today!!! I was in such a FMQ zone, that I forgot I was suppose to go to Bunco tonight! About 6:30 they called me to ask where I was.. " Ah, in the zone...quilting, of course"...LOL! So, changed my shirt and jumped in the car to join a bunch of fun and whacky friends for an evening of giggles and laughing. They are such a fun bunch, I really do not like to miss our monthly get-togethers! They had a really good laugh about me being so into my quilting that I forgot all about them! (Unfortunately, they were right...but I still love them all.) They are very sweet and dear friends, every single one of them! And, they seem to still love me too, even if I am so into my quilting that I forget them on occasion...lol. Oh yes, and when I got home I discovered that I ran out of the house so fast that I even forgot to turn of my machine...LOL! It's turned off now to have it's rest until tomorrow when I put it to it's paces again.

Nana: Marie I think Gini is trying to pretend she is younger than she really is. We are about the same age and I remember Cagney saying "you dirty rat".....LOL

Thanks Nana, I knew that and I know Gini's mischievous humor because I have the same one. Don't worry, I'll get her back. : )

hang on ladies, james cagney made most of his movies in the 30's and 40's i wasn't born until the 50's i think that was before my time.
Gini - His movies were made into the early 60s but I doubt that you or I saw them when we were that little - but I do remember his lines of You dirty rat! But I was much older when I watched his movies. We didn't have a TV in our house till I was leaving for college. I know that is hard to believe in this day where families have not just 1 TV but usually 1 in every room- some have them in their bathrooms... oh my... but he was definitely before our mature time...teehee
I have forgottten how much fun sewing can be. I made this messenger bag to take to the Leavenworth retreat
And I made this wallet. The fabric is because I thought pigs would fly before I ever got to a retreat. Can you tell I am so looking forward to it.
Elizabeth, love them both

I started to make a round table topper with an square inside that will be a checkerboard. I got as far as the 64 checkerboard squares with a 1 inch border but don't know what to do next as far as design to make the 4 circular border parts. Has anyone seen one done like this??
