gini:

On the way to the party, one of the mothers overheard her two girls in the back discussing the party.  one of them said, "this is the best social event of the year.  the only thing better is a wedding".

What fun!  And what a spread!  Princess is one lucky lady!

What does Will get for equal time?

gini:

frances, i'm sorry your job has gotten too stressful.   take care of yourself.

i had to look up courgette,  we call them zucchini.  now i'm off to look up beetroot cake, i love beets.

Ingredients

  • 250g self-raising flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 150g soft brown sugar
  • 100g sultanas
  • 200g beetroot, grated
  • 150ml vegetable or sunflower oil
  • 2 medium eggs, lightly beaten

Method

  1. Sift the flour and baking powder into a bowl and stir in the soft brown sugar. Add the sultanas and grated beetroot. Beat the oil and eggs together and add to the bowl. Combine with either a wooden spoon or an electric mixer.
  2. Spoon the mixture into a greased and lined 20cm springform cake tin and bake in an oven preheated to 160°C/Gas Mark 3 for 1–1 1/4 hours, until a skewer inserted in the centre comes out clean. Cool in the tin for 10 minutes, then turn out on to a wire rack to cool

Many many thanks for all your support and kind words i really do appreciate it more than you realise.

Gini, sorry i forgot that you call courgette zucchini ,

and the beetroot cake i used was not chocolate (see too much of that at work)

this is more or less the same recipe.

lots of love

Thanks for the metric measurements, Frances.  I'll get right on that baking project...   LOL

(Weren't we going to "Americanize" her?)

Beetroot = beets?

Sultanas=?

Sultanas are golden raisins but beetroot is still a mystery.

Also found this in the dictionary.

sultana |səlˈtanə|nouna small, light brownseedless raisin used in foods such as puddings and cakes.

a wife or concubine of a sultan.• any other woman in a sultan's family.

Yes Beetroot is beets

Sultanas are apparently American Golden raisins

As for Americanizing me you are trying but just think what i have to go through everytime i use an American recipe it takes me 3 hours to translate it.

Where does it end you all say Color and we say colour oh and i think you have tires and we have tyres.

but doesnt it make it interesting. :-)

lots of love

This just in from our Sheriff's Dept:. Three hours ago there was multiple shootings in Ellijay ,in the area of Simmons Road. (Now sure where that is). There are pulling cars over left and right looking for a certain suspect. We have locked our doors and are staying away from windows.

A couple days ago, the sheriff's dept. was at the empty house, next door to ours, with their lights off. One patrol car was parked at the road, across the street from the house, with their lights off, also. It is really strange. I had call 911 about suspecios people over there in that empty house. Don't know if this is connected but I am not takeing any chances. Jim said there is no way in hell we are going to Walmart tonight.

My son-in-law is from Nailsea (I think that's near Bristol, but I could be wrong) and he almost died when one of us mentioning switching out our purse for the fanny pack when we were heading for the rodeo.  I guess it really has a different meaning over in Britain.

Patti has a bad last name?? Can't be worse then my maiden name. It's a dirty 4-letter word (The dirtiest worstest word you can think of...) and I see it used here all the time. The sensors don't seem to object

Your maiden name was either snow or work. which one is it ? S**w or W**k.
