You could try an uneven nine patch. Start with six 10" squares for your co-workers to do. Then border them with (24) 5x10" pieces on each side, squared up with (24) 5x5" squares in the corners. the 5x5's will line up into four patches. The 5x10 will end up next to each other. Two rows of three blocks will give you a 20x30 inch quilt. You can up all the dimensions, just remember, what ever you start in the center with, you will cut in half for your rectangles and in half again for your small squares. For 18" centers you would need 9x18's and 9x9's. This is nice because it can be done in as little as three fabrics. The best of luck and keep us posted on how it goes. Ask for help if you need it. That's what were here for.
Here is how one block would go together. One large piece, four half pieces and four small squares.
My calculations were incorrect. a 10" center gives you a 20" block. You would get 60 x 40" - this is a good size. If you could do 3 rows of 3, 60x60 is a great starter size and a nice size cuddle quilt.
18" gives you a 36" block - two rows of three blocks gives you 72x110 - too big.
Finally able to get on site. Trip was long 4004 miles.......... Both grand daugters adore each other,
planning a shop hop of hawaiian quilt shops. Hope every one had a nice start to New Year.

MNnancy: What was I up to today? Oh, just biding my time bidding on a Featherweight on eBay. YEA - MY BID WON! A 1948 Singer Featherweight is heading my way for $155. Supposedly it works, so we'll see. Finally, a second sewing machine...

Nancy - congratulations on your new machine! Lucky lady!
It was cold cold cold at my son's house... Oh my! I know what is on my list of requirements for a home up there - and yes - looking into those heated floors - have checkmarked that on my list.
The trip was absolutely wonderful although I couldn't do much while there. I enjoyed so much the hugs and kisses the grands gave me. I loved how they were excited to see me. I know it won't be the same after we go up there and see them all the time but I am so looking forward to that anyway.
My body is hating me today and it will take a few days to get it back to any type of normal - the drive up and back so quickly didn't give me a real chance to rest - but that is okay - I will make it...I am swollen to beat the band but that will go away too...
I am one happy grandma! I am going back in April - have been invited to spend the month with them - was surprised but am very happy and trying to see if this will work with DM here - if I can find someone to come in and help DH - someone to be here while he is at work - I will be going... but we shall pray about it and see what happens...
For now, getting back into the swing of things and have tons of projects to get going or finish up!
I just recieved this email from our Pastor. Please pray that they find this lady.
Ron could you have prayer for our son-in-law's sister Diane Hartzog- She is missing since Christmas Eve in Virginia Beach Virginia- All the family together in a condo for a family reunion for Christmas & she walked out of the house walking on the beach & never came back. Navy Seals have been called in & search team. It was on the news & the family needs to know if she is dead or alive. We need your prayers that she be found. Someone saw her walking to the pier - She had a history of depression.
Thea:So I had a wonderful short visit and am ready to go home!
Glad you had a good visit Thea.
Marie:Well, today I got a good part of my Peanuts quilt together.
Looks good Marie.
I've been collecting "Peanuts" fabric for years but I don't want to cut into any of it.
Bonita:Here's my twister quilt from the fall charm swap.
Very nice Bonita.
Congratulations Nancy.
gini:my new sewing room, it's pretty plain jane.
Looks good to me.
Congrats Nancy on your new Featherweight.
Gini, nice new room. You need those walls filled up or high shelves to fill up.
Kris, have a great vacation to home.
Thea, stay warm and dry and rest up.
Anyone I missed, Happy New Year and stay well and keep sewing.
I'm going to start getting some of my tops together that I've made and send them to my long-armer. I'm going to tie a couple of them. Need to finish some of these and get them off the back of the door. Today will be a good time to do that. Rain has stopped so joints aren't screaming at me today.
