Well, Barbara and Thea , and Carolyn.  The arcing has stopped for now, but so has the wind.   Detroit Edison hasn't been seen yet.  But I don't know if it is something that can be taken care of in the office or if they have to come out.  Personally, I would think that they need to come out, but the news at noon said there were power outages in some areas.  My opinion-- why let that happen when you can stop it before that happens?

Guess I'll got thru my fabric and see if there is something that I can make a seat cushion and back out of so I can give the littlest GGD her Grandma's childhood rocker for Christmas.

Well, I'm off to see the fabric, the wonderful scraps that I have.   (sung to the tune of I'm off to see the wizard , the wonderful wizrd of Oz.      LOL     Ginny

Ok, well at least the tree's not burning down while you're waiting for the power company.  :)

Well, Edison finally came 10 minutes ago and inspected the tree and lines by the tree.   He said the line is only about 2 inches from the side of the tree and it's a wonder that the arcing stopped.  He isn't certain what might be able to be done to give more space.  He is going to send a line crew out to see if they can move the line away a little, but he also said it is possible that the tree will have to come down if they can't gain enough room.  He also told me that my power won't go out if the line breaks, that it is a smaller wire that doesn't carry enough to take all the power out.    Guess I can go make cookies now.   Ginny

Hmmm, Marie hasn't checked in yet.  Do you think the birthday girl is still out on the town?

frances, what were you really going to say?

we jsut got back from our annual sleigh ride.   the horses were pretty frisky tonight, running up the hill.  the boys thought it was more than funny that they ditched the two little girls and got on the other sleigh with the aunties and uncles.   we had a great time in our sleigh without them.   i want to go back in time and be one of my daughters kids.   they are living the life.   they spent a half hour sledding before the sleigh ride,   a half hour ride through the snowy woods, a big dinner, then back out to play on the sleds.  they each got to invite one friend and then there were a few cousins scattered in the mix.

Gini

I want to go back and be your granddaughter.   Do you think we could just fake it.   Always wanted to do an actual sleigh ride but that doesn't happen around here.

Just checking in quickly. Marie - happy belated birthday! I hope your birthday and the year ahead is a smashing success!!

made it throug my week! Still have not finished the jersey quilt, but will be focused on that this weekend. I have to get it done before Christmas, even if that means driving it to her on Christmas Eve.

Spirits are lifted since I will be on vacation (only working from home in short bursts) for the next 11 days!!! I so need this time off.

Love and hugs to you all!

Diana:
Doing a Skype sewing session sounds like a lot of fun.   I have a Skype addy    mamaboots131 is my name so if anyone wants to add it, you're welcome to.   I talk to a friend every week in the UK so I know it works well.....

It does sound like fun but is anyone awake when I'm sewing? I try to sew for at least an hour after work (usually after midnight EST). I use Skype to talk to my family at home. My father also has a SkypeIn number so I can call and it's not long distance.

BTW, it looks like I'll be going home in June 2013. DH will be making his first trip there with me. I'm really excited. We should be booking our flights by Monday after I speak with my cousin who also wants to go.

Kris, that is exciting.  How long has it been since you have been back?
