chocake2:o...What's your story?
My DH is actually my 2nd go around - I had had a very bad ending to my 1st marriage so was adamant it would never happen again - Jay and I both talked about this and we both were in agreement that because we both had bad 1st marriages that we weren't doing it. We had actually been living together for about 3 months - and New Year's Eve he asked me to marry him. I didn't answer him until Valentine's day and we were married on St Patrick's day. It has been 23 years of the best I have ever had. He laughs that I never answered him for almost 2 months but I was truly in shock and had to really and truly think about it. My 1st husband had crushed me and I had always thought that marriage was till death do you part... I am very happy that the shock wore off and I did finally answer him and he reached in his pocket and pulled out the diamond that he had been carrying around for if and when I ever said yes. So that was a good ending to 88 and a great beginning to 89.

chocake2: So...What's your story?
So...What's your story?
I met my husband while I was in Nursing School and he was stationed at Forbes AFB in Topeka. He went TDY to Alaska and the 1964 earthquake happened while he was there. When he got back he surprised me, he called me on the phone at the dorm and told me he was coming to see me, I thought he was still in Alaska so I just blew it off. Everyone in the dorm knew he was coming but me. So we had a big audience when he showed up. Then he proposed and we got married my Senior year. We had a great 43 years of marriage, and he died 5 years ago today. It has been a sad day for me. Trying to keep the tears back all day. I helped my daughter move furniture to her new house today so that kept me occupied. Now at home alone it is hard not to curl up in a little ball and cry myself silly. But I have lots of wonderful memories to keep me going. And there won't be a 2nd man for me. Any other man would never measure up. And tomorrow is my birthday.

WOW! Millie, the hooker, is still going strong 60 years later?
( I know that's not what you meant but it sure was funny reading it. )
Glad you didn't have to go out too far on a slick mountain in the dark. Just the thought of it scares me.
