Yeah Barbara, what she said. Next time a quilt show comes to your area you need to enter, you'd win hands down. and we can all say we knew her when.

Patti:

Thanks Debbie.  Never thought of using quotation marks.  Always learning something.  I always learn something when I speak up and my ignorance shows.  I have been a learn as I need it sort of person. I first did nine patches by cutting the individual squares out and sewing them together.

What?  That's not how it's done?  ;o)

Barbara, the quilting on your WCQ is beautiful. But, dumb me, I have to ask. What does WCQ stand for? I'm such a ninny with abbreviations!

Thanks Spud. I tried every combo I could think of. Whole Cloth Quilt wasn't something I'm familiar with.  Abbreviations really throw me.

Today I think I'll just kick back and rest.  Yesterday we were up at 5 am and out in the cold to be a monitor/checkpoint for DGS1's 5-mile run as part of his test to earn a black belt in TaeKwonDo. From there we went to the "dojang" for 3 hours of preliminary testing on "technique".  By noon we were in Reno for the final testing (there were 15 candidates and each candidates' test was approximately 15-20 minutes).  The testing was completed about 5 pm and  DGS1 did absolutely great.  From there it was the awards banquet at 6 pm.  We finally arrived back home about 9:30 pm, exhausted but ecstatic and very proud of our 13-year old "Black Belt".  According to the instructor, Christian will be the last "Black Belt" to be awarded to someone under 16 years old out of his dojang.  Christian has been going there since he was in 1st grade and he has had many ups and downs and most kids would have given up, but he stuck with it and is now a 'Black Belt".  We are very, very proud of him.

We have enrolled and are paying for DGS2 and 3 to attend these same TaeKwonDo classes as we have seen what a difference it has made in Christian's life.  We are hoping that John Mariotti can work the same miracles with Anthony and Caleb.

Got my hubby to help me take some pictures of quilts... Here is David's Shark quilt. He picked out the panels, the shark fab, the map fab, and the fish in the middle of the stars. I designed, pieced and quilted it - it took forever to figure out what to do with all the fabric he wanted. After this experience, I told the others they could pick out one focal fabric and i would do the rest, much easier. :)

Spud, your shark quilt is wonderful. I know what you mean about limiting choices. Some on here may remember what I went through with the Shrimp Boats quilt my daughter and son in law wanted.  Never again. They were really happy with the result but next time, let me know the general theme or colors and take what you get.

I really like the way you laid it out, turned out great.
