Very nice fabrics Carolyn!
I spent the day sorting through my fabrics, getting them out of boxes and into the cabinet my husband brought up from my other home. There is nothing and I mean nothing where I live. This township is so small! It has 2 gas stations, a Casino and a Polaris dealer. If I want to buy fabric around here I have to drive 1 hour one way! I tend to buy a lot on line. Same goes for groceries. Lovely place to live if you don't mind driving.
Wow, you have two gas stations, your lucky, There's only one in our little town and it can't seem to stay in business, cant even stop in and get a soda pop. A Casino, well you could always go there and walk around if you get bored., The nearest Casino is about 100 miles away on Indian land. We have never been but we have friends that go sometimes. I go to the nearst big town once a week to do shopping, the rest of the time I am at home quilting. I might get to go to Hobby Lobby or a mall about twice a year. bj
Creations of Kerrville was calling my name this morning! to their annual batik sale! The first year I went (2-3 years ago) they were selling FQs for $1 each! This year they're $1.50 and precut yards for $5.99. I had fun!
I also found a thimble I'm anxious to try. All the handwork I'm doing is digging into my middle finger and I'm not a big fan of thimbles but this one looks different. It's leather and even allows for fingernails! There's a little piece of metal in the fingertip area too.

okiebarb, we have huge Indian land here with maybe 1000 people spread out. I don't even live in town. I'm way out surrounded by National Forest on a lake. Most of my nearest neighbors are only here in summer. I don't really know them which is fine with me! LOL I have 1 friend in town and she's the one that got me involved in quilting. I'm a very beginning quilter and fabriholic.
When I go back to my home in Illinois, 7 hours from here, I go nuts buying fabric. One of these days we'll get all our homes sold. Sheesh. My husband still works in Chicago. He's an attorney, and drives up here to Michigan every weekend. He's nuts! (and lots of fun) Talk about being a migrant worker. Now he wants a float plane so he can land out front on the lake. Um, no thanks. So I spend most of the week by myself, with our 7 critters learning to quilt.
Well, it looks like you had a great time Debbie-do. What a haul. BTW, I do not like thimbles either but I've had one of these for a few years and really like it. It is the only one I've ever been able to use.
Life is like a quilt...bits & pieces, joy & sorrow, stitched with love
Carolyn, real nice haul you came away with. The black with the white dots at the top looks interesting.
Debbie-do, you really did have fun. That's a beautiful bunch of batiks you have. What are you planning on making with them?

I had the privilege of rescuing a sharp-shinned hawk today. I was going home when I saw this bird of prey sitting by the road. I thought that was strange and drove around the block and came back. It was still there, so I knew it must be injured. Pull over across the street and got out my jacket. It held it's left wing out and ran a short distance. As I got closer it ran into an orchard row with long grass, which slowed it down enough to put my jacket over it. Gathered it up, keeping it covered and put it in the car. We do have a wildlife rehab and education center in our county, about 1 1/2 hours north. Called the vet and she met me part way. She briefly checked it out and she couldn't feel any break, but definitely something was wrong with the wing, but since it wasn't an obvious break, thought it might heal well enough to be released again. So cool. I can follow what happens to it on her facebook site.
